Has anyone heard any update on the status of the multi-use trails at SHNF? Just wondering if its gonna be open any time soon...

I guess its true that one always wants something when they know they can't have it...

At least 4 months until the balloon loop opens. A tornado came through and knocked down a bazillion trees.
The east side will reopen as soon as it dries out.

that's crazy. trees are fun to cross.
shame the weather has roughed up the forest and messed up
the Brunes Mill scramble too. hope the east side dries soon,
I am eager to check out the trails.

Going to be a jungle out there that's for sure..

From what I can tell, the trees are not laying on the ground but twisted among other trees and some of them are bent over under stress which makes them hard to remove. I'm like you, I love hopping the logs, but hopefully we can ride soon!!!!

Nate, I'm with you I need to ride. I haven't rode since Sterling Ranch. I hope the forest dries out quickly! I called Saturday and all the trails were still closed.

There is actually a trail under the trees, a little more than log hopping. A lot of the balloon loop looks like this!

Also a notice I saw on another forum was it might be the 4th! But this wasn't anything official.

The west side will be closed for a long time. The FS is having a salvage sale for all the high wind damage. Once the salvage is complete the trails will be evaluated & cleaned.

The east side is now being checked for downed tree location by users. After that all down trees will be cleared & the trails will be opened.

So east side is closed till further notice? Thought it was going to open once dry?

The Forest Rangers will be doing a trail survey on the East side this weekend.
The following Saturday will be a trail maintenance work day. The more people that show up, the quicker we can reopen the trails.
