First of all to those who questioned why the Forum was closed, And specific posts removed of the subject, I chose to do so under the direction of TORCS out of respect for the family in lieu of personal notifications. As many of you now know, #73 J. David Smith passed this weekend while racing TORCS Blue Creek, I do not know the full details except the Family is aware and we feel we can talk about this respectfully now and Celebrate one of our Family members Last race with us. Mr Smith passed doing what he loved. Prayers go out to his family.
Services will be posted as soon as TORCS knows something.
The information we have is J. David had medical issues, he did not crash or go down, he was feeling bad and stopped his race, At that time he made his way to the EMS where he was checked and being taken care of, he passed of an apparent heart attack!

Sad news for his family, TORCS and especially the Double Decade class. David was never the fastest racer but showed up with a smile and rode for fun. He will be missed.

I am very sorry for everyone's loss. I know a few of my friends did know David pretty well and raced with him, very sad indeed.

I was blessed to call him my friend. He was always of good cheer and very supportive of everyone he contacted. He was very close with his family and made all of us feel like family.
I agree that it would be fitting to retire his number.
Prayers to Heidi and his entire family.
