Thanks to everybody for not running me over in that first turn. My bad. I think that I should have taken a little closer look at that one. The track was a lot of fun and I had a great time. First race in Texas. Are they all that hot and hummid? I think I'll be out at some more and I'll try to keep it on two wheels at least through the firt turn. Thaks to everyone that put this race on. Great work.

A many thanks to Tommy and all of the fine personnel that put on the Mingo Memorial Hair Scramble this weekend at Skull Creek. The event was well organized, well communicated with instruction on how the race would be run, and we had a great (and challenging) course that was well marked. But yesterday, I had the opportunity to see way beyond the usual course and trophies as to what it takes to put on a race. By that, I am referring to the incredible effort of the support staff. On lap three, with less than five minutes to finish, I buried my rear wheel in some kind of super glue. Okay, most people call It mud in a river crossing, but two grown men pulling a simulated deadlift (Big Jake and I) couldn’t lift that rear wheel out of the trench that I had bogged it in. After giving in to physical exhaustion, I stumbled through the remaining course on foot. Obviously, delirious due to the heat, thinking I would walk back to camp, I was discovered by the Burnett family and Terri Landry. A many, many thanks to them for grabbing me and bringing me back to life. Then there was my bike that I left stuck in the mud. Juliet and the support staff were all over it with radios, and soon an army of volunteers were getting into some nasty stuff to retrieve my bike. It took a four wheeler to pull out the bike, which I heard ended up getting stuck itself in the process. A major thanks to everyone who took the time to help retrieve my bike in the heat of the day and return it to camp!!... while I was treated for heat exhaustion. Yesterday, I needed help, and the heart of TRH came roaring through in a big way. This is a great organization to be a part of, and I am very proud to be a member.

Great club, great people, and lots of awesome memories for my family. We spent a week floating the Comal, playing at a waterpark and racing at Skull Creek. Guess what my boys said was the best part of our vacation - riding motorcycles at Skull Creek!!! I think I've got them hooked.
Thanks to everyone who helped put this event on, we had more campers and attendance than I've ever seen at the Creek and it was awesome. We're looking forward to many more fun days and races to come.
Later,

Thanks for all the volunteers. This was a great course and I especially enjoyed the jump over the road crossing. I did not care to much for the moving trees that kept moving in front of me.

Thanks Tommy, Lanette, Julie and all who made the event a success. The short loop was a blast...but the heat got the best of the old lady near the end of the fourth lap. Denise picked me up and carried like a baby at least 100 feet to the mule and Laura drove me back to camp, while I whined the whole way about not finishing. Let's try this again when the weather gets cooler! Kirby Bailey put on an awesome performance! Genes are strong in that family. Rena
