Many of you know Will Pattison, co-founder of TORO and a former frequent TSCEC competitor. Will had a very bad crash yesterday, reportedly in his home state, at Portales. He was airlifted to Covenant Hospital in Lubbock.I don't know much about his condition yet; Jennifer Webb flew out to see him today, and The Sheriff picked her up at the airport and took her to the hospital. Sheriff tells me he is very alert and aware, can recall vivid details of his crash, but has some paralysis, that everyone HOPES is temporary. I know we are all a bunch of Sunday racers, but many do have strong religious beliefs, so I would ask that all of us that believe to please say a prayer for his speedy and full recovery.

Will is one of those few individuals that the minute you meet him, you like him. He's a great competitor and has worked tirelessly for our sport.

Get well quick, Will. We need you.

Will is a top notch guy. Probably the most driven, methodical and focused person I know. I am sure he will work his way through this for a 100% recovery.

Will & Carol,

Let us know what we can do to help, we all want to do something to help, anything.

Will is in room 568 of Covenant Heart Hospital in Lubbock, on the "Neurological" floor. He has some swelling around his spine that is causing some paralysis that the doctors think will be temporary. He is bright, alert, conversational, but cannot move much right now. Bud is 100% right as usual as Will has worked all his life for our sport, and you do truly like him from the first time you ever meet him. I think some flowers would be appreciated, maybe some cards in the mail, and if you live in this area, he can accept visitors and is very glad to have the company. His parents, Carol, Jennifer and Jimmy Allison (former PDMC-Harley Honda dealer in Roswell)were up there last night and Will said he appreciated the visits. Moral support and prayers are probably the best help right now.

I just got back to Dallas and today was full of little victories, for sure. He will have a long road back, but he is already working 110%. Thank you George and Wayne for everything - I can not thank you enough! And THANK YOU to Shawn Goolsby for driving from Bowie to Dallas to fly with me.

George... thank you for posting all of this... the one thing I would just add is to not send flowers. Will has some pretty bad allergies, but cards and visits would be awesome!

His surgery was five hours Sunday morning where they fixed the issues in his back (removed a few disks, added spacers and some titanium from what I understand) and set his right forearm in a traction device - he broke that in, I think, five places. As George said, they don't see any damage to the cord that would suggest his paralysis is anything more than temporary. Right now he has little movement from the chest down, but showed some very positive signs of improvement just from yesterday to today.

The plan is to move him to a rehabilitation unit at the Covenant Heart Hospital tomorrow and then work toward getting him ready for a move to a long-term rehab facility as soon as he is ready for that.

To God - - Please protect this man, help keep him, his family, his friends and other loved ones safe during this time of rehabilitation/recovery.

I am sending the angel that watches over me to this hospital so that he will have some "extra care" :o)
