I just found out my 3 year wait is over and I am now a member at Cycleland Family Park in Nacogdoches. I was just wondering if anyone is already a member there and if so how they like it.

I also wanted to let some of you know that over the last 2-3 months I've been riding on a 6000 acre hunting lease between Lumberton, Silsbee, & Evadale (I joined just so I could ride - not hunt). I mapped everything out with my gps, AutoCAD, and Delorme Topo program. The hunters were VERY pleased to get an accurate map of the area. They even passed the word to 2 other clubs and it looks like me and a friend will be mapping those out starting in January. They are going to give us memberships to let us ride in the off season in exchange for the maps. Black Branch is along the east side of the Neches from Buna up to Kirbyville (looks like another 10,000+ acres) and Arizona Creek Wildlife Association (Batson, Moss Hill, Saratoga and north up through Votaw & Rye - about 60,000 acres).

I was hoping some of you might be able to contact other clubs and possibly work out something like this. I have been getting concerned with all the closings, but the future is starting to look brighter for riding.

If anyone is interested I can post a sample of the map to show how easy it is to track the trails.

Later
Roy

post away. Our club would be interested in talking with some hunting clubs about off season riding.

we would like to help do mapping too, if you need help, and would like to get in on the off-season lease idea. Sounds like you've managed to do what we haven't been able to accomplish so far. How about coming to one of our meetings sometime? We might even make you an honorary member! Next meeting is this Thursday at 7 PM at the Hoffbrau in Beaumont.

Can't do Thursday. It's my daughter's 13th birthday. Let me know when the next one comes around and I'll definitely try to make it. The club in Silsbee doesn't object to me bringing anyone out to the property to ride, as long as it isn't during deer season. Me and a couple of friends are usually the only ones out there. Lots of fireroads and river bottom trails. AND IT'S CLOSE. We'll have to get a small group to head out there after the first of the year. The river is up right now, so some of the trails are under water.

I'm hoping the other clubs will have the same policy. I'm not sure about the quality/quantity of trails, but it's easy enough to strike out through the woods with the gps "security blanket".

Sounds great. You're always welcome, first Thursday of each month. If we change the location for some reason, I'll post it here.

Roy, to answer your original question, I am pretty sure we have 1 member who is in at Cycleland. He's not replying to your message because he doesn't want the rest of us to know his secret identity on this board (that would give him away, and he wouldn't be able to anonymously harass us fine upstanding people). If you make it to a meeting next month or whenever, he's usually there. One of the George's.
