Heading to Huntsville this weekend for a real (short) vacation. Taking the SMC (for Kevin) and the XT (probably our last ride together) to get lost in the piney woods. Planning on bringing home lots of East Tejas dirt. Yipee!

if you get a chance, swing down thru New Waverley and say howdy to all the Caney Creek Enduro folks (camp is out south of town on the main road). should be a pretty good herd of people there. you might can even route thru some of the dirt roads to the trail heads where the gas stops are located.

Cool! Any idea where they are exactly? I finally got a couple of good maps yesterday.

camp is usually a mile or so south of New Waverley on the main north south road thru town and they ride from camp back out to the north a little ways to a farm to market road and head west on that over IH45 and out a few miles out to where the trail enters the forest. they ride a loop and the first gas stop is at the 'trail head" closest to town. then they head on down more trail and end up at the "trail head" on the west side for the 2nd gas stop.

Thanks! We had loads of fun. Did the west side on Sat, east on Sun. Found the trail heads on Sat, saw a few riders on Sun.
I think they dumped some loads of grey gravel on the sandy spots, 'cause we didn't hit anything deep (although we were SKATING on that gravel). First time Kevin has ever gone riding on the dirt rds with me. Said he wasn't comfortable not knowing exactly where he was (!). Told him being semi-"lost" was way more fun than being on a forced march! Bought the Gazetteer at the last minute, definitely used it.
