Took the XT out last weekend, did a 100 mile loop to Rusty's/Walnut Creek, was a teensy bit warm when I got back home. Here's my thought- when it is cooler, if anyone is interested, pick a Sunday, stage at my house, ride DS to Rusty's, ride the trails, ride back to my house. For anyone interested who is not currently a AMSA Cycleparks member, we have some unused guest passes that are available ($10 Cyclepark fee). We could do the long half first or last, your choice. I think there are enough miles of dirt rds to keep you happy. Optional destination, Cedar Creek (I'll have to check for a cafe for lunch there). Terrain at Cedar Crk may be more suitable for DS bikes than Rusty's. I'm thinking of conning Steve (Fearless Leader) Smith into leading, so you don't have to follow She Who Corners Like a Spastic Squirrel. Opinions? Comments?

Thorndale is way too far from my house. I know zip about that area. If someone in that general area could offer a staging area and route on a Sun (not 8am!, and don't forget a watering hole) I might still be able to offer the Cycleparks passes. Haven't actually asked Kevin about that part yet, didn't want to push it too much right off. It might go over better if we staged from my house. Are you thinking Thorndale for location, or terrain? I thought the front 1/2 of Cedar Creek was fairly tame, and the back 1/2 more technical. It's easy to do either/or there, that's why I suggested it. I was also thinking of combining this with a dirt bike day for some friends of ours from SA. If I can talk K into it, maybe he be our "on call support team". Still want to do a Sun breakfast run in the Hill Country w/you guys, but I work till 10pm, so maybe "brunch"? (That's such a sissy word!) Later, Lori

Lori...just set it up any way you want to.....I'm up for anything....I used to ride the XR650 all over Rusty's....It's not a big deal for D/S bikes.....Would be fun to meet some SA folks also.....
As for Hill Country riding .....We'd love to meet up somewhere for brunch.....Sometimes we do Blanco, yesterday we did Cooper's in Llano....We work really hard not to miss any meals...
Most weekends are free except for August 6/7 when we'll be in Big bend...
Let me know....
Steve

I'm thinking in the fall, when its cooler. Would like interested riders to pick a date that doesn't conflict with races, etc. I'm trying to talk K into a vacation for ourselves this fall, also. I need at least 24 hr notice for ya'lls other breakfast rides, please, as I work till 10pm-ish on Sats, and must have brain primed ahead of time. Llano is a bit far for my XTiddler. I've only done 2 laps at Thorndale, the week after the mud race there a few years back. All I can remember is looong stretches of deeeep ruts.... Thanks,
