Those were some really trick minicycles! I remember drooling over them at an expo in Houston one time around 1977.

Anybody know whatever happened to them?

Like most of the Italian bikes of the era, they disappeared in a puff of smoke.

I had an Indian ME74 that was powered by a Moto Minnareli engine. It liked Blendzall and piston rings.

The last several Italjets I saw could be ridden in a circle for a quarter, outside of K Mart...no B.S.! Sad way to put a horse out to pasture.

Which Indian was the "Boy Racer"? I remember them from the early 70's, but don't remember many details. Blue and white, maybe 60cc-80cc? Same time frame as the Yamaha Mini-Enduro..... Too many years and too many beers to remember all that.

I had some buds who owned Indian 90's. They were dual-purpose two strokes- this was around '75-'76-'77. I had been told at one time that they were of Italian manufacture, (kinda like Harley and Aermacchi) but never got the whole story. Those Indians seemed to be broken more often than not.

I owned an Indian 125 that I traded a perfectly good Suzuki TS90 for,Man did they see me coming!. It was a full sized bike-unlike the rest of the Indian line. 21/18" wheels.I think it was some sort of proto-type that had been modified to within an inch of it's life. It was fast, but it finally blew the rod thru the cases. I used Carrabella parts to fix it. It must have had a Sachs gearbox as it had more neutrals than actual gears. As soon as it became running again, I unloaded it on somebody else.

The Boy Racer was imported around 69-70 by the guy who owned Cycle Magazine at the time. Then came the Mini-Mini and in 72 they imported a range of Indians with a 70, 100, 125, and 175. All were, as Super Hunky would say, forgettable. I painted up my ME74 to look like a Maico. It upheld the tradition of Maico breako too.

Thanks, V D. 1970 sounds about right. I was 10 years old, had never ridden, and the neighbor's Boy Racer looked way cool.

I can drive down the road today, with the bikes in the truck, and see little 6-8-10-12 year old kids stare at the bikes as we pass them by. No matter how much the bikes have changed, we really never have. We're still those little kids, grinnin' and wishin' when the bikes go by..... Ain't that the best part?

I hear ya Tom! My wife and daughter make fun of me because I will speed up/ slow down/ change lanes, etc. to get a closer at bikes in tow on the freeway- especially if they look to be older models. (Heck, I once almost bought a PE175 at a stoplight)

One day I went for lunch at The Wild Turkey in Dallas, and there in the parking lot in the back of a pickup truck was a PERFECT old Maico square barrel! When we got in the restaurant I yelled out "WHO OWNS THAT SWEET MAICO?" This guy raised his hand, and we all (except maybe my wife) shared a very enjoyable lunch while discussing Maicos and Huskies.

This kid does love his toys!
