Hello All!
It looks like there are alot of you that know alot about the Big Bend /Terlingua area. I took a trip out to Big Bend on my DRZ400 a couple of years ago and had a really good time. Although, I see that there is alot of roads and "jeep trails" around the Terlingua Ranch area that look like much more fun. I would like to go out there next week (around may 5) and would like to get some more information than I can seem to find on my own. I purchased some topo maps of the Christmas mtn. and Hen Egg mtn., are the roads and "jeep trails" accessible for anyone who wants to ride there? is there a fee to ride there? Can you set up a tent and camp anywhere on the property? It looks as if I will be going by myself, is there a means for communicating to anyone in case there is an emergency (cell phone, 2-way radio, etc.)? How are the lodge accomodations? Is the price reasonable? are there better trails or a better place to stay in or around that area? I know this is alot of questions. It seems that you are a great bunch of people that help each other out. I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.
Bill

BAD, BAD idea to go alone!!!!!!!!!
mobile phones do not work, even in town.
there is no water, it would be hard to carry enough.
there places out there that only god knows about. if you got hurt or rode off in a ravine you may never be found.

it is a fun place to ride unlike very few places. best thing to do is wait until October & ride our dual sport event.
