Hey gang, I am headed to the Big Bend area in mid april on a trip with my dad and brother. We've never been there so we need to get a list of places and things that are a "must see or do" and was wondering if I should bring my off-road (non street legal YZ) bike with me. Are there any good single track trails that I can easily find while we are out there? Just wondering if it will be worth it to bring my scooter as I would really like to ride west Texas. I am thinking we will be out there for 4 days, at least. Places to stay, see and ride?? Calling Team Terlingua, help a brother out!

I was hoping that you could tell me the best places to stay that has some trail riding nearby. Are there any good offroad trails that I can take off on and have my dad and bro pick me up in the truck via a road crossing? I should be able to do at least 60-70 miles with my oversize fuel tank on the YZ, especially at a casual pace. Any recommendations would be appreciated! Feel free to email me at denmon1@webtv.net if you don't want to post the "secret" trails I am sure you guys know about.

Dave, Terlingua Ranch is probably your best bet. We went out there last year on our big dual sports and had a blast. Explored only a small portion of the ranch, plenty of riding on it. Some guys were camped by us who rode atv's all week so I assume there is plenty that you could do on the YZ. Terlingua When are you going?

Thanks Chuck, I just discovered the Terlingua Ranch website a little while ago. Very cool. Thanks for the link. Looks beautiful. We are headed there in mid april. Do you have any idea how big the T-Ranch is?? Just curious. I really would like to ride a fairly long point to point trail and meet up with the truck on down the road somewhere. I've gotta remember to bring plenty of fuel, tubes and slime, since I assume there are not any bikes dealers out there.

200,000 acres...that ought to do!! Wow, I did not realize that it was that big. Thanks Chuck. See you next weekend at Goertz. It was nice to finally meet you in person at Centerville last weekend. We must get together for some trail riding some off weekend.

It sounds as if you are planning a lot of off-road riding going solo. You may want to reconsider that as I am sure there are plenty of stories out there of why not to.

Thanks 400, I certianly want to try to hook up with someone that can ride with me. I definately know better that to ride offroad alone. I am currently working on a contact that lives out there that can hook me up with someone to ride with. Good advice, for sure!

Hi Dave- my 2 buddies and I are headed out to Big Bend this coming weekend, why dont you move your plans up and join us instead of riding all by yourself a week or two later? Email me at gossiphog@yahoo.com if you're interested. Me & one other dude are on DRZ-400s and the third guy is on a KLR650, all of us have nice new knobs and will be staying at the Wildhorse Station cabins, just up 118 from Study Butte. The other two guys will also be riding the Buzzard Rally Dual Sport this saturday in Sanderson. Anyone here ride the Terlingua Dual Sport ? Its in late October or Early November, but Burl keeps saying the 2005 ride will be the last unless someone else takes it over for him.. Its a blast! -dave
