Zars Workday Info/Schedule

Work crews and assignments start promptly at 8 A.M. Pick and shovel work will be saved for the late arrivals. Zars Ranch will be closed to play riding during work hours on the work days.

Bring your bike, ATV, loppers, chainsaws, work gloves, work boots, etc. I repeat 'Bring your bike or ATV'.

For the January, May, and October work days: These are a full work day and run from 8 A.M to no later than 4 P.M. with an hour lunch break at Noon. Bottled water will be provided. Sandwich fixings and chips will be supplied for lunch.

For the August work day only: This is a half day work day and will run from 8 A.M. to Noon. Work hours will be credited on a 2 for 1 basis. Work 4 hours and recieve credit for 8. At noon, there will be a feed provided by the club.

The work days will be held as scheduled come rain, shine, burning hot, or freezing cold. The only way a work day would be canceled would be if the San Antonio river overflowed to the point that the roads to Zars were under water.

Zars: Jan 25 (Sat) and 26 (Sun) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Zars: May 17 (Sat) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Zars: Aug 9 (Sat) from 8 a.m. to Noon.

Zars: Oct 18 (Sat) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

More information is available on the DBSA web site .

Timing is everything. Two days earlier or later and the weather would have been nasty. As it was, great weather for the January weekend allowing us to have a very good couple of workdays with fair turnout from the club membership to provide the needed muscle.

Zars Ranch is always a lot more safe and pleasant to ride at after a work day(s). Lot less body and face slappers and downed tree bits to run into.

Kudos to Jeff Seely (Land Manager) and thanks to all the club members and family who came out to put some sweat equity into our riding lease.
