Hey guys, I'm new on here and posting up for friend. Here's the scoop. He has a 1996 Polaris Scrambler that he just purchase roughly 6 months ago. When he bought it, it ran "okay" but then started backfiring really bad. Now it won't start at all and just backfires. I have 2 questions:
1) What do you think the issue is? We've heard it might be a timing issue but looking for some more feedback.
2) My friend lives in Rowlett, TX (17 NE of downtown dallas). Are their any decent independent mechanics in this area that might be will to turn a wrench on this thing? Bottom line he wants to get this 4 wheeler running but doesn't want to spend a ton of cash a local dealership to make it happen.

Any and all recommendations are appreciated.

Thanks!
