Regardless of what you hear on Fox News, the world is getting better every day...

We are living longer. We are healthier. We have more leisure time. We treat each other better.

America is the place to be...and this is the time in history to be here...we've got it easy!

Indoor plumbing, air conditioning, painless dentists, automobiles, internet porn...another day in paradise.

Just quit watching the news and all your fears and worries will vanish like farts in the wind.

At least until 12/12/12...then it's time for a bold Aztec Sunset when the meteor hits...

All hail internet porn and indoor plumbing!

I've been following the laptop/netbook/tablet pc trend off and on for a few years now. I even bought one of those netbooks - they've definitely got a niche to fill. I'd rather have an ultralight laptop similar to the mac airbook(?) as my portable go-to machine. Larger keyboard and screen with low weight and long battery life.

Tablet pc's have been done before and didn't really catch on - the next wave of them may tell a different story, but in my opinion, touch screen computing should be reserved for cell phones, retail POS terminals and kiosks. I'm a CLI guy so I can't see doing anything meaningful with finger gestures or screen taps.

I've been noodling over an iPhone/Palm Pre app for the past few days and the best idea I can come up with that I'd find useful would be a customized rss feed of your favorite forums and a combined events calendar. I can't imagine trying to post anything useful on TON using a cell phone - most of the cell phone posts I see are of the "I'm here, fire's warm, beer's cold, trails are in great shape" variety.

I'd be more interested in spending time on a project similar to trailsource.com but for Texas and possibly surrounding states. That's a whole other ball of wax and probably one both of ya'll have heard me talk about before.

That's been a big idea of mine for over a decade. If you really want to work on it, I'm betting this would interest Bud too. I've worked out alot of do's and dont's...and mentally looked at what works and don't work on other sites that tried and failed.

My favorite infomation/database/user-community type site is still www.surfline.com -- mostly because they tapped the webcam idea long before broadband made it usable...because they could see the potential and they knew the public would catch up. A combo of Trailsource and Surfline - along with the kind of data Scott has gathered on www.txtracks.com would be the perfect site...and traffic would go through the roof.

As a commercial printer and a web developer, I can see income from both web and print for stuff like this - if not personal income, then as a community income resource, but probably both, so this work is not all volunteer, but actually pays the thousands of hours it takes.

But I already knew you had the bug...that's why you are "the chosen one"...minus the assassination or crucifixion, of course. And who knows...maybe someday at a MX track or ORV Park they'll name a privy after you!

Same here for my Palm Pre - and that holds true for about 99% of the websites I frequent. I'm still not sure what a TON iPhone app would look like.

An Android app would be the best go, and easier to get submitted and built. I would be more then happy to do designs for it, and templates. try google android developer stuff and check it, it has alot more to offer, I would prefer it.
