Here's the directions as they were given to me:

Take 87 North, go 26.7 miles past Hyw 12.
Left on 1004.
Right on 82. Go 9/10 mile, dirt drive on right.

You could just take 96North straight to Kirbyville, then just take 82 East.

This link should show a google map of the area.

Is this place open to the public? I might have to bring the bikes when I go to Orange for Christmas and hit this place while I am in east Texas. Hey Norman, wanna ride?
Any details on this place? How many acres? Fees?

This is and open riding area as far as I know. I've been thinking about giving it a try one of these weekends. From what I understand, it is mostly ridden by good ol' boys on quads and that there is a lot of potential for new bike trails. If you want to ride when you're in this area, let us know and we can arrange a ride. I, personally, will be off the entire week of Christmas, so I'll be up for it!

Sounds good Jacob, maybe we can swing a trip to Kirbyville for a look around while I am in the area. Lemme figure out how many days we will spend down there and I will let you guys know so we can hook up. I wanna do a days worth of riding and a night at Antones in Beaumont for some good tunes and cold brews if any of you guys are up for that. Tis the season!

Just curious...is this the place that is leased from the timber company??

Did you go?
I've been twice, once since Rita. It was an area to ride, and has some potential for more trails.
After the storm it wasn't much fun because of all the downed and mangled timber. Has it been cleaned up any?

I never went. I couldn't get anyone else to go. I would like to get something together this weekend though.

Very little work neccessary. Just need to tie the existing 4w trails together with a little imagination.

I've rode 4 wheelers up there, before all the forestry rules were enforced. It is a good place to ride. good trails. Last I heard the 4 wheelers had thinned out, because they were making then wear helmets and no beer...... I haven't taken bikes up there yet, but would like to give it a try. If anybody decides to go try it, hit me up and i'll make a ride.

Last I heard, they shut it all down and they don't allow any offroad vehicles out there.

I went by last week for curiosity and there is NO RIDING. Signage indicates it is now a "wildlife area" and NO motor vehicles allowed. Looks like we lost another riding area... I'm so glad I purchased an OHV registration sticker to add more riding areas and trails... it's done so much good.. NOT
