Am new to this post,just bought a 05 dr 650 ,have ordered a lower engine shield,are bark busters
a good idea for this kind of riding? A friend and I are going to Terlingua in nov.What all should
I get for the bike? I have my personal gear for I use to ride enduros. Thanks for any info.

Richard.....Bark busters are a very bad idea for desert riding.....There are usually no trees anyway.....Stock factory type hand guards work very well, they deflect the roost and cactus spines and if you fall you don't break the wrist that got caught up in the bark buster......

Probably the most important thing is the tires.....So you don't have a miserable ride they must be full knobbies with heavy duty slimed tubes and have stong sidewalls to avoid pinch flats and cactus thorns.....

How else can we help.....

Listen to what ta2240 tells you, he's full of good info and I'm still trying to teach him all I know...

tires are like new,dual sport that is,I realize slime needs to be added,but I hate to take
these like new tires off,wont the ones I have work ok? Also ordered some saddlebags I found
on this post to use to carry water,graynola bars,tools etc. thanks for the tips.
