Can't speak for that paticular bike but... there is a vast difference in the quality of the pieces the Chinese minis are made up of. Considering the price and it appears new I'd be very skeptical as the Lifan engine is about 50% of the cost of that bike and you have to factor in shipping, importation fees, & profit. Also consider if something breaks, are parts available? Do you have to wait on them to arrive from China? Are you flying solo on finding parts that fit? Or worse yet let's assume it doesn't start when you uncrate it, is there some kind of support to help you get your new toy operational? There is a reason some minis are more expensive than others.

Chinese bikes, as a rule stay away from them! Only if you get it dirt cheap, and then consider it like a Bic Lighter DISPOSABLE! Once you use it up it is worthless and they are not made with the same quality of the Jap or European bikes. Like the previous post be cautious!
I tried the china pitbike thing, bought 2 Kayak 110s. Looked great, had disk brakes and Honda knock-off motors. That’s just it. Knock-offs. had crappy ignitions, poor welds, etc.
bottom line, you get what you pay for. Disposable!
I'd spend my money on a good quality used bike first. Look in the classified here and you will see that used XR, CR, DR, TTR, WR, KX bikes are always in demand. And if you maintain it you will most likely get most if not all your money out of it when you move up.

I wouldn't group ALL China minis in the same group. Maybe all the cheap one's but there are some that are VERY near Honda CRF50 level of fit, finish and overall quality. Don't believe me? Call Service Honda and ask them what they think of Pit Viper MX bikes. If you are not familiar with Service Honda they hand build the CR500AF/AFX as well as the Junior X so I'm pretty sure they know a good quality piece when they see it. Not that these are the only top quality minis, there are a few others.

Parts are for sure an issue with most of the minis sold. Again not all companies are going to leave you hanging without parts support but a vast majority will. It pays to do a little research on what you plan to buy before deciding how good the deal really is.

I know first hand about those CR 500 AF's. I would not have Service Honda do asnything for me ever again.

I know people that have had excellent service from these guys. Then there are the others. Just happened I was involved in the other. Not getting the options you ordered. Taking MONTHS to get it made right. Finding out later that things you paid for were'nt done. Other things as well. Not to say that if you ordered one it would be anything but perfect. I gues the ones that I speak of were just made on an off day or something.

On the Pit Vipers -
we have them in stock, and are very pleased with them!!
Very cool little bikes, reliable and well made.
Parts avalibilty hasnt been a problem at all.

Ardfark- on the AF stuff -
without details it is pretty vague to address..
and you make it sound plural , like you know several bikes and instances?
if its first hand? it was your bike?
Obviuosly i'll come off as too defensive, no matter what i post,
but i do work very hard to make sure every AF customers is a very happy one!! (i would guess 99.9% are)
While i certainly admit to fouling up occassionally ,
after a decade of building the AF's ,
i honestly cant recall *multiple instances* where any of my customers would say that they wernt taken care of in more than a fair manner and in a normal time frame. even if some slip up on options was made.
If you personally had a bad experience, my sincere apologies,
and assurance that i do try extreemly hard to make every bike exactly to the customer specs or correct any misunderstandings in a timely fashion.

Sorry man. This is the whole reason I was being vague is becasue the issues were taken care of and I do not want to start anything esle. They were not mine, but the two guys I ride with. I just had to hear the crying all the time, that is why I considered it "first hand".

You guys fired a few shots both for and against the Pit-Viper. So I looked it up on the internet. Yea it probably is a good bike. It better be for the money! I may have mislead when I said stay away from china bikes but then I still agree that You Get What You Pay For. So lets re-phrase that.
"Stay Away From The China Bikes That Are Affordable"! If it looks to good to be true - it is! Those 500 dollar Kayaks were trash! And I did the right thing getting better "used" Jap bikes for my kids for the same money as the Kayaks.

id look into a pitster pro as well those bikes are well made and have had rave reviews... and as far as the 500af goes there is also a place out of the houston area that builds them as well ... but i havent talked to anyone who has had them made by them before so i dont know of thier reputation...
