Okay, I just read the FAQ page so that I wasn't being redundant, but I didn't see if I'd need to purchase a transponder or not....

also, it says to reserve a #, to call the phone number listed. Does that mean we can pick ANY number (I doubt that) or do the classes have specific numbers....like STORM classes have letters designated, or a specific #that your number has to begin with. I would like to go ahead and get my backgrounds ordered before the end of the year. Is this going to be possible?

Last question....I couldn't find on exactly which day, which classes are run. I'm needing to know if the women's "B" class will run on Saturday? I tried clicking on the events, but it's just way too early for that information to be there. If that race happens to be on Sunday, I need to know before I sign up (church obligations and stuff).

Thanks so much! I'm very excited about running this series! I hope to do as many of the races as possible!!!!

We will use the Bouma system that STORM or TORO or TCCRA so your transponders will be the same.

E. Outside assistance anywhere other than in designated pit area. Disqualification.
Ok does this mean if I stop to help someone who has their bike on top of them and can't get out from under it we will be diqualified? Or is this rule just for spectators? I have never passed up someone who was down or needed help.

It's used to keep track of laps/lap times by computer. When you go through the scoring chute it will pick up your rider #. We zip tie ours to our chest protectors. Hope this helps!

You will have to buy one or get a used one. I am not sure what type torcs is planning on using. I used the same one for toro and tccra I just have it reprogramed for each series.

From what I hear they plan to use the same kind as STORM, and the one I bought from STORM cost $20 and they will be able to reprogram it for me to use in TORCs, so I'm happy about that!!

Stopping to help a downed rider is not outside assistance, that's sportsmanship.

I'm sure someone who is official will clarify but I believe the way this rule works.....you can get help from a fellow RIDER, you cannot get help from someone that is not IN the race. At the round at Cycle Ranch, someone went to hand a person a fresh set of goggles and everyone around screamed NO!!!.....we were like...what? They said the person would have been disqualified if an official saw that.

Another person could not get her bike started after kicking for like 10 minutes with a guy standing closeby. She looked at him and he said "if I help you, you'll be disqualified"....so, looks like a rider can help, but someone else cannot. BUT....I'm not an official!! This is just what I heard at one round last year....

My interpretation is that this rule is intended for the recipient, not the provider, of outside assistance (hard to DQ a spectator!). I wouldn't expect you to receive any penalties for assisting another racer, but they could be DQ'd for accepting your assistance.

that's exactly what I meant. The RIDER would be DQd if they received help from a spectator, but not from another rider (I think). Lets wait and see what Sean says when he is able to look at this. I know he's quite busy and I believe out of town right now.

this rule is meant for someone that is getting pit help outside of the pit area where they are not supposed to get help. Now if someone is hurt the rule i dont think applies but you must becareful if on the track during a race. i have seen people that are helping down riders and then they got hurt doing so. be careful
