Cooper, I think the scenarios in your examples existed before the new rule changes. There has always been the risk of doing fewer laps than your competition, which is what it all boils down to. Those with more laps completed are ranked ahead of those with fewer and it was this way before.

PRO'S DON'T GET LAPPED!!!!!!! Before we would all do the same amount of laps. NOW the CHECKERS could get thrown in between two PRO racers, leaving one STILL racing and the other FINISHED.

What is wrong with the way it was before. No other series that I've ever ran (GNCC, OMA, TCCRA, Mid South, National Hare Scramble) throws the flag on a set time.

So don't reply back saying its the same as before when it's clearly NOT!!!!!!
I'm not trying to be rude but once again your not getting my point.

The problem is you dont know when to stop beating a dead horse. If you are ahead of the other guy then you wont have a problem. Twist the throttle harder. That is the solution no matter what the scenario

Do you even have an opinion? Shouldn't there be a speed limit to whether or not you can even talk crap? (I'm saying your slow.)

I bet the Davis race had somthing to do with the change! I remember the C class did almost 3 hrs, making the ladys run into the dark and get shorted! A judgement call should have thrown the white flag after the first lap. But by the old rules it got thrown on the second 2 hrs into the race!

A big +1 to that.

A 3 hour mudfest is a bit much, for the people racing, and for the land.

This new Flag system sounds really simple to me, the race is over at 105 Minutes, checkered flag comes out and the guy in front wins! Whatever is going on at 104 minutes, or at 106 minutes, or 2 hours later doesn't matter. Complete the most laps in 105 minutes and you win!

I think the problem here is that this new format should be viewed more like set laps instead of a time plus one lap perspective. What I mean is that what Cooper is saying IS going to happen to somebody, the flag IS going to get thrown between two people who are racing, it's inevitable. However, the resolution to this is to simply KNOW how many laps you are going to do in a race and that's just a matter of timing a lap during practice. If you know you are racing for 105 minutes and it takes 30 minutes for you to do a lap then you know that the flag will be thrown sometime during your 4th lap. That means you need to make whatever move on your opponent you can during that lap because it's the last one for sure...

Does this make sense or am I missing some component?

We have issues that the summer series does not have to deal with. The main thing is the daylight is shorter. Every season we have to deal with trying to get the races off in time and with the weather we had last year, we had several issues trying to get the races completed in a timely manner.
Of course, we will make adjustments as necessary to make the series work and give the racers what they deserve as far as racetime. This year, we are trying something different to see if we can be more predictable to have the races through before the day is over.
We made several dynamic changes this year so that the riders can get the amount of laps in via practice and be able to still get a good race in. Although I have read that many people here are doing the math, the folks in the scoring trailer are doing the math at every race trying to determine if the race is going to fit in the time period, throw in some mud and undesirable weather and like it has been stated, the races can double in time. Cooper, i see your point but we are going to try this for the upcoming season. I suggest a watch on your bike and be in front at the end!( of course you already knew that but just poking some fun).

Cooper,

1st off yes some pro's do get lapped, It may be because of injury, or breakdown, but it happens.

Just because you don't ride a series that runs a set time doesn't matter, they are out there.

you have 2 choices, lead or at least stay up front, and keep your eye on the timer( counting down from 105 min) which will be in the scoring chute. unless you didn't run practice, ALL PRO riders know or have a good idea of how long it will take them to get a lap around the course, So you should know how many laps you will run before the green light comes on.

2nd choice, Get a refund and race some where else.
you listed a bunch of different series, pick one.
