I'm about to get a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4 liter inline 6 cyl and I want to mate it with a trailer that will tow well for long distances so I can get to different enduro events and other adventures.
The jeep can comfortably carry four riders, so I want to carry four bikes. I'm thinking about a 6ish high 7x14 v nose, dual axel, all aluminum (no steel) with 15" Al wheels (same as the jeep), and dual barn doors (not the ramp door). Also the side door I'd like larger, not the narrow type. I'm not sure if I want the box inside the wheels or have the wheel wheel part of the box ......

Do you think the jeep can handle this?

I (still) have a 5x8 with (rusted to pieces) steel frame and aluminum box, and I live at the beach, so that's the reason for an all aluminum trailer this time, steel just doesn't hold up here ........

I'm not ready to buy yet, got property taxes to take care of first, but I want to know what get (and where) when the time happens.

79" wide is just about the width of the jeep .....

slap a roof mount A/C on it with a generator tucked inside ... set for pretty much anything

that is a nice looking trailer but I bet it's not cheap!!!

The jeep can handle it but it will be working pretty good. If you are patient and can drive 60MPH you won't have any issues. We had a little larger trailer I hooked to a cherokee (I think 18' box 2 axles enclosed) etc.. jeep pulled it suprisingly well.

Cheap? not cheap? don't know yet. I tried to go thru their website and send them an email but they just brushed me off with their reply ......... wow, that's realy had to believe .... anyway it appears to be what I want? and as for options, don't know as they didn't want to answer my questions ..... thought I'd like a wider side door ........

I went looking for a report or comparion on v nose vs flat nose and didn't really find anything. You know how those 5th wheel rigs use an air deflector on the pull vehicle? I wonder if such a thing would be usefull for pulling a flat nose trailer, as those trailer types are much cheaper and more plentiful ...... but I haven't seen this idea ever used ...... and what about that rear fairing on the spaceshuttle when it's piggybacked on the 747 for transport. NASA must believe that's necessary, right? ok, maybe I'm going a bit "out there" (but not into space), but with fuel costs the way they are ........

I know that a friend of mine had a enclosed ~7x14 that we used to tow years ago all over the place, it was like pulling a parachute when there was a head wind or a 45 degree head wind ... he added one of the fiberglass/plastic??? bubbles (similar to the silver one shown here) and it broke the wind perfectly behind a pickup truck to the point you could barely tell it was back there and our mileage went way back up (several mpg).... I know if you buy a square nosed trailer, I would highly recommend buying (or making) something similar to help with towing.

Hey we just bought a Forest river 18' Work and Play model and it doubles as a camper when we are out for the week or weekend, Air, Shower, Stove, Awning, You get the idea.

Its tight but we get three ATV's in it.

a 500 a 300 and a 200.

I bought a 6x12 from Northern tool. Flat front. I rigged it for camping too, with batteries, lights, etc. It can not hold 4 full size bikes side-by-side. It holds 3 comfortably. The front of mine has about 3 feet reserved for tupperware, tool chest, generator, etc. You could use that space for the bikes and have room for a 4th bike facing backwards. It pulls very well behind a 5.3L suburban. I would not go any smaller. I added electric brakes, a must-have item. If I had to do it all over again I would get the dual axle 7x12 or 14, but you could make it work.
