Remember me?? - 12/18/07 01:28 PM

Well any one remember me? (If you logged in after spring 2003, then no) Looking to get a bike this spring, what's everyone running these days? How is the STORM thing vs. TCHSS??
Posted by: Gumby

Re: Remember me?? - 12/18/07 02:32 PM

I don't know you, but I sure remember the avitar. . . . . . . . . welcome back.

TCHSS doesn't exist any more . . . . . at least not as District 20.

Re: Remember me?? - 12/18/07 03:39 PM

i remember you Moe. but then again i was the 17th person to register on this site.

So what's up?

STORM and TCHSS are the same thing. We were also AMA District 20 in between them. There's still a few of old guys hanging around.

Re: Remember me?? - 12/18/07 06:20 PM

How ya been Eric? Get a 450, whatever color you like... They have come a long way in the last few years. Or even a KTM 525...Can't go wrong there.

Take a look at the TORCS schedule too. Lots of great folks over there, and many riders are racing events in STORM and TORCS as well. Both should be lots of fun for you.

Re: Remember me?? - 12/21/07 09:23 AM

Wow, I remember the avitar as well. Been a long time. Don't feel bad I just came back not too long ago as well. It definitely is not the same folks it was back then. Not sure if you remember me or not, I am the original grasshopper. Changed the name to reflect new times, (And I forgot my old password) lol
As far as new bike, do not listen to Tominator! You should definitely ride a Yamaha, size of your choice of course. TORCS will be awesome this year and still waiting to see what STORM will be doing and where they are racing. Well Welcome back and see you at the races!

P.S. Anybody need a brand new stock gas tank for a 98 YZ400F? I will be wearing my "I hate Tom Bailey t-shirt" today.....(ride whatever color.....er...er..)

Posted by: Tominator

Re: Remember me?? - 12/23/07 07:32 PM

Simmer down, Pretty Boy (Johnny). I'll only bring the blue bikes when I see you next week. And please remember that gas tank goes on a bike destined for a USAF intel specialist. His brother has a finger on the red button at all times... :-).

Moe, get a Yamaha Fo Fiddy if you're gonna ride some moto, or a WR Fo Fiddy for mostly woods. (Shameless plug for Johnny, the Yamaha rep)...

Eric, you're shirt is worth at least as much as it was back then. In fact, it should be gaining value as a collectible by now!

Merry Christmas to all of you,

Tom

Yeah, I was thinking Blue or Green, 450 for sure. Man am I ready to hit the woods, It's kinda like the saying,,,,

Air and sex don't seem that important, till your not getting any.

Riding seems the same way, MAN DO I MISS IT.

Moe looks pretty fast in those pics. I think he should be bumped to "B" class already! HA!

Go with the Blue or Orange, Eric. Those other colors seem to sit on the trail more often.

Re: Remember me?? - 01/22/08 01:16 PM

Chris, it's funny that you mention that sign (big brown sign on I-20). Josh and I made a trip up to Huntsville Ala in April and saw it, but we had no camera in sight.

Josh is doing well with the Air Force in Monterey CA. He can speak enough Pashtun now to get his butt kicked in an Afghanistan bar! He's got about 9 more months out there before more training and heading overseas.

Jason has actually been in the Air Force for over 4 years now, and he's still doing well too! He's in Las Vegas, and I'm headed to see them both later this week.

Don, how you holding up in O-HI-O?

Time sure flies.....

Re: Remember me?? - 02/28/08 09:48 AM

Hey Tominator forget how to log on??? Somebody keeps changing my password! Man I haven't seen that piture in a long long time! Those were some fun times, although I was a little confused on the brand I was riding at that time. BUt you know what my only number one plate came on that Green bike....

As for the other guys in that piture some I haven't seen in years either. I am starting to come around more though so maybe I will run into some of them. Racer92 I still see all the time. Sweetcheeks haven't seen in a couple of years, George or Steve either. Darren Kirby was one of the funniest and coolest guys I ever met. And he was flat out crazy! Does anyone remember when his rear brake went out and he rode 2 races with no rear brake? During the second race without his rear brake, his front one went out as well. He didn't quit, he rode the whole race with out brakes on that old XR! Now that takes some skill!

As far as the last few years, who would have thought I would be where I am today... Free bikes and a little one on the way. Life has been pretty good to me....... I'll be looking for you all at Powells.

Re: Remember me?? - 03/03/08 10:55 PM

Sorry for the randomly timed posts.

Spermage,

I am doing well. Went out to the TORCS race here in Conroe. I live about six miles from that track. My property backs up to another large wooded tract of land that then goes to the river. I have a six mile loop cut in in it that needs trail cleaning. Rusty Gourley (#357) and I ride it when it is not too wet. Rusty raced the TORCS race and reminded me why I stopped racing. We both went back out the track on Monday after the race and had some fun on a very rutted up course.

I spend most of my time on my 02 Gold Wing and my wife has an 06 Shadow Aero 750. So I traded track time for street time with my wife and we both love it. I have thought about you several times too. It is nice to know I made enough impression to still enter your mind (whether bad or good).

Hello Don in Ohio. I have wondered how you are. I saw Jessie at the race and said hi to her. I am not sure she completely remembers me.

I have seen Bobby Boykin at the outdoor nationals in Freestone and the Houston SX last month. He still looks the same. I, on the other hand have about 25 more pounds that I notice bounces up and down on breaking bumps.

I saw the Tominator at the SX as well. What more can be said about Tom. Inside that antagonistic core is a pretty good guy.

I did see that my ex-wife Lacy Jones was part of the first USA (backed) Womens team to compete in the ISDE. The three ladies won. Nice work.

I saw Andrew Trousdale who has more hair than before (if that is possible). Martin Howell is now racing the pro class. He was in the junior class when I last raced. His dad Marty has all but retired from the hare scramble scene. I sure understand that.

Lynn Bailey is still effective on a bike but the bike seems to change colors every few years. I think the latest one is yellow. Remember Al Cravens. He was famous in our semi-pro, I mean over 30A class. Al would usually get a good start, be on the ground somewhere in the first five minutes, then pass you for good shortly after that. I saw Al and Lon Plumpton at the Toyota tent in Freestone.

Hello Chris Fish. How are you too? And how old is Kirby now?

George Felix, do you still have my old trailer? Endo, do you still have that van and are you still smoking? Darren Porter comes in and out of my life too. Last saw him last summer.

Bottom line is that our TCHSS community made a lasting impression on me. You are all good people and I hope all is well with you. Please keep in touch.

Re: Remember me?? - 03/03/08 11:58 PM

Well I'm so glad that everyone remembers me. BUT it looks a new bike is out of the question. Found out that I have 2 disc's in my neck, that are slipped and crushing my spinal cord. Gonna have to go under the knife and have it fixed, gonna join team titanium without a cool story to back it up. Doc say's I'll be better than ever, but I'm not sure that riding again would be to smart. Guess well have to see.

Posted by: Tominator

Re: Remember me?? - 03/04/08 11:23 AM

Eric, if the doc says "better than ever", then come on out and ride. Both of my collarbones are basically twice as big as normal, from the healing process after breaking them. My doc said he'll treat me for free if I ever break either one of them again!

Like Spermy said, get fixed up and then come ride with us. Nobody said a dirtbike HAD to be a racebike... Lots of fun just playriding too.
Posted by: Chris

Re: Remember me?? - 03/20/08 09:05 PM

Looks like I sign on as often as you Brad.

Lynn took Kirby to Gatorbait and she ran into (I think) Pozo's crew from Mexico....

Kirby is 14 now and taller that I am...
She is catching up to her dad... And I don't think I am too biased, I think she is absolutely beautiful...

Kirby did receive a nice note and package from Lacy and is hoping to be the next "thang" in l the X class. I am so proud and nervous everytime she gets on the bike.

I tried to race Weimar last fall, and I blew out my knee. I rode last weekend at Cherokee with Dad, Mom, Kirby, Roger and Juliet Peters and Family. I think I've decided to sell the 450 and get a 4 wheeler, I will be able to ride mom or Kirby's 150's if I absolutely had the urge for 2 wheels. I just came to the hash reality that I am getting older... UGH!

Tell the Gourley's hello, I thought about them both recently and miss all the great people.

For any OLD OLD TRH's- does anyone remember Tommy, Paula and TD Smith???
Mom and Dad are currently on the Terry Lebonte ride (Harley) and ran into them...

On the 4 wheeler issue, what does anyone think about the sport vs. utility... I have to seriously do some research.

Re: Remember me?? - 03/26/08 01:46 PM

Well I made it!!! my neck feels GREAT, the pain that I had in my arm is almost gone. Dr. said that I'd take about 3-6 months for the nerve damage to heal. Got some cool X-rays, and MRI, pic's, we even prooved I have a brain, saw it in the MRI. LOL,, Had a few problems with the operation and sent the week in the hospital, but like I said I made it. At the moment a bike is out, because we've had to spend the bike fund just to live, so when I get back to work, I'll have to start over. But that's ok, do plan to ride again, I miss it so much!!! Like you said Tom, it's dosen't have to be a race bike, but I'll have to have a bike that can race!

I figured I'd wouldn't ride again, because of my neck and blah, blah, blah, but screw that, you only once, live it to the fullest. Plus I have so many great friends around that I'd love to see again, so I just have to get a bike and come play.

ERIC

P.S. I'm gonna try to attach a pic, it's what I've been up to, and,,, Ya'll remember back in '01 my daughter was born? We racer that weekend at "The Big O" that one time, and she was a little bitty baby at the Outlaw track, look at her now.

Re: Remember me?? - 03/29/10 03:02 PM

Wow, great to hear and see the names of guys I used to bang bars with! I'm an old TCHSS O30B racer (#664 back then) who used to battle Spermy (611), Heath Drulman (613) and a slew of others. Due to work, I moved to Dallas in early 2000 and had to drop TCHSS events after a year of long travels and rising costs. I switched to 4-wheelers (mainly to ride and race with my son) and raced the ATVCSS series around the DFW area. We then had to move to Georgia, where I am today, but have just been told we're coming back to Houston in the next month or two!

Spermy, I see you're still up to no good. LOL It looks like I'm headed back to racing bikes and am hoping to join TORCS once we land on our feet in Houston. Sad thing is, I'm almost eligible to skip the O40B class altogether and go straight to O50, but I'll at least be able to run against you for a couple more years before doing that. Time flies!! I really look forward to seeing all the old members and getting to know some new ones. I'll look you up once we get back to Tejas.

TX bound and couldn't be happier!

Re: Remember me?? - 03/29/10 04:52 PM

Hey Rick! Ever talk to Heath anymore. I kept in touch for a while but his job got in the way of him racing. I guess he's still in West S. A.

Lots of old faces and some new ones in TORCS, come on out you can help me sweep the O40 class. Jackie he's a "B" rider don't let him try and slide into the C class.

Re: Remember me?? - 03/29/10 09:53 PM

No Spermy I was in Georgetown this past weekend racing airplanes, BUT I'll come to the Conroe race on Sunday and visit. That Sat I'll be in Waco with the planes again, AND it'll be Lisa and I's 8th wedding anv. Let's see 8 years ago that weekend we raced at that ATV park by Lake Livingston, put on by the Bushwacker club, remember that?

Oh and can I reserve a number for the D class? 59,
Ya got anything slower than D? like F or going backwards or something?
hahaha

Re: Remember me?? - 03/30/10 11:44 AM

i remember the BTB race.

TORCS also has a "Warlord" class. purely for fun. At the Ott race the warlords started the race with a passenger on the back. I guess the winner was the one who stayed on the longest. go to the TORCS forum there are some pics.

Heath is in Dallas now. He moved there about 2 years after I moved up there. He's actually living in Allen. I just found his email address and was going to drop him a note. We rode together once after he moved to the area, but the kids were getting pretty busy with sports and he had to bow out. I'll let you know what he's up to after I hear from him.

Of course I'll join the B class... I'll bring up the rear and give you all another guy to pick on! Looking forward to it.

Re: Remember me?? - 04/11/10 12:15 AM

Well after a 7 year layoff I got to go ride today!! Man was it great, and dang was I slow. Went to the Sam Houston forest, rode the first 4 or 5 miles in just 1st gear!! After that I got some of it back and started running up the gears. I have to say that the Astars neck brace was really nice to wear, and after the first mile or so I didn't even notice I had it on. I was only able to ride one small loop, I blew both of my boots apart, I guess all the time off wasn't kind to them. I left buckles, plastic and who knows what else on the trail.

The guy you can't see to my right is Kurt Lear. He shows up every now and then, Finds out how slow he is and goes back into hiding.

WAKE UP Old guys... So, when is the next race? Iwill like to see you guys again.
Last week I went to Houston and I saw "WA" (Stephen Nowakowski)
He is having a bad time with his back.
Hope you get well soon and come with us to dig some rocks out of the trails.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Roberto, how many bikes did you bring with you to Houston? I don't think I ever saw you with less than 12 on your trailer! HA!

I hope all is well for you at home. Lots of bad guys running around right now, si?

Re: Remember me?? - 06/11/10 01:54 AM

Sorry to disappoint you... but I was on a business trip and didn't have any bikes at all. Actually I was driving my wife's Minivan.
Thanks for the good wishes!
I'm in Monterrey and they are TOO MANY bad guys around. It's very dangerous to go out at night. It's not like the old times when you can walk and have fun out on the street at any time.
This weekend I'm going to San Antonio, and I will try to ride up there in the woods.
Do you know someone to ride with in any place other than ZARS or MARBLE FALLS?
Nice to hear back from you and GOD Bless you and your family!

Roberto,
A friend & I were just talking about you other day, about what the conditions must be like down there around Monterrey.
Let me know if you would like to ride at Skull Creek sometimes. Be safe!

Good to see you online, Roberto. Glad to hear you and your family are managing to stay safe during tough times. As with all things, this period in your history and ours will change - hopefully for the better very soon.

Wow, Pozos back in the US! Great to see you online here on the TON, Roberto. We still tell stories of you and your amigos driving all the way from Monterrey to race with us a few years ago. I will never forget when we had a party at one of the races and one of you guys carried a wonderful homemade cake in your lap the whole way from Monterrey to Central Texas for our little fiesta we had at the race property. That a lot of fun. It seems like Teresa and Stephen organized that party. Do you remember? If you ever get up to Austin, let me know...I have a personalized chest protector plate with one of your buddies name and race number on it hanging in my garage that I can bring to you. Maybe we can get together for some cervesas. Some of us are getting together next week at Red's Porch (a cool local pub)in South Austin for a happy hour if you are interested. Stay in touch!

Your friend,

Re: Remember me?? - 06/19/10 10:51 AM

YES, I sure remember. I was the one bringing the cake that my mother did for you guys. (she died in Feb, 4 years ago) Now my wife is the one doing that same cake If you ever want to try it again.
We have been in touch with Teresa and Stephen all this time, actually, they have been in Mexico almost every year since then. I remember we also brought a few MEXICAN COKE's for Teresa on that same party.
About the stickers "FGZ"... SPERMY help us with the design (Thanks again David) and Yes, they were in support to our good friend Gabriel Guardado when he lost his little Twin baby FERNANDA just a few weeks after she was born.

Dave, thanks for the invite, when are you going to "Red's Porch", I will love to assist and remember those good times with you guys.
Also let me know if you are riding this weekend or where are you riding, I dying for a good ride in Texas.

See you soon and BE SAFE!

Re: Remember me?? - 06/21/10 11:46 AM

Roberto, we are going to Red's Porch tomorrow night(6/22)for an informal happy hour. Nothing special, just a few beers with a small group of our friends. You are more than welcome to join us but not sure you want to drive an hour from San Antonio to do so...it's up to you.

As far as riding goes, our club is hosting a trail ride at the Goertz Ranch this Sunday (6/27). Scroll down the list of forums here on the TON and look at the Austin MotoSports Association sub-forum for details that will be posted later today or tomorrow. Come on out and ride!
