DIRECTIONS

Fort Hood is south of Waco on I-35. Take I-35 into Belton and go west for about 20 miles on Hwy 190 to the Clear Creek exit in Ft. Hood. Turn right and travel six stoplights and make a left at Turkey Run Road. Go a quarter-mile and turn right into the track at the sign.


LAYOUT

The track at Ft. Hood is 2.0 miles long and consists of manmade obstacles over a hardpack, mild hilly terrain. The soil is sandy loam and clay with clay-faced jumps. The course features small berms, a huge, fast sand area, a large variety of jumps and the famous gravity cavity. There a six tabletops, three singles, a huge stepup and a whoop section that is actually three doubles. The 20-rider backward-falling gate is on dirt. The pit area is unshaded and uses portable toilets. There is a concession on race days and camping at the track is free.

BACKGROUND

The Ft. Hood MX Park is located within the Fort Hood military reservation and has been in operation for almost 30 years. Besides the two tracks, there are 3000 acres of avaiable riding area which the base opens up for weekends and club days. All money generated by the club goes to a recreation fund for single soldiers on the base.
