Thanksgiving Weekend

Thanksgiving Weekend - 11/10/10 04:28 PM

Well, looks like the BAP crew will be out for Thanksgiving weekend cooking up a storm. I'm planning on bringing out a walk-in smoker pit that has burners and a smoker, which we'll use to fry a couple turkeys, and smoke a few briskets and hams. I'm hoping some of y'all will want to join forces and just make an inordinate amount of food for everybody.

So my question to y'all is how many of you will be out there and be hungry on Saturday. I was trying to get an idea of how much food to plan on cooking. The only other thing we might need help with is side dishes. If anybody wants to volunteer to bring a side dish, that would be awesome. Just let me know what you're thinking about bringing so I can mark it off the list. I will probably make a huge batch of green bean casserole to bathe in because it's so darn good!!!

So, if you're interested, please let me know ahead of time so we can plan ahead.

For Eric:
in·or·di·nate (n-ôrdn-t)
adj.
1. Exceeding reasonable limits; immoderate. See Synonyms at excessive.

Sounds awsome. we will be out there Wed. night and staying until Saturday night. I will talk to Jennifer and see what we will be bringing. Marc, how many turkeys are you frying Thanksgiving day? I was thinking about brining one out, since the oil will be hot we can cook 2. Let me know, if it is not needed then we can bring something else. Looking forward to a fun weekend.

Re: Thanksgiving Weekend - 11/11/10 08:43 AM

I'm not sure if everyone has seen this Thanksgiving flier...see attached.

Maybe this event is a good excuse to get out of spending Thanksgiving with one of my ex's... :-)

...I'll probably bring a big batch of roast garlic mashed potatoes for whichever potluck dinner I attend...maybe both...will advise.

A lot will depend on the weather.

cheers

P.S. Brian, it may be better to use the pit by the pavillion(unless yours is bigger) remember the oven does not work in the clubhouse but the pit is big and is nice for reheating food, casseroles, etc...

NOTE TO ALL:

The Texas Holdem Tournament on Friday will be for "FUN ONLY". There will be no cost or payouts, but I'll see if I can arrange 1 giant trophy for the overall winner.

Kenny, you might have a chance at a trophy this time - wait, do you know how to count?

FYI last time i researched it Hold'em "Tournament" cash payout are fine as long as the "House" does not take a "cut" for profit AND the "House" does not hold a TABC license.

yeah...i can count cards but that's mostly used for Black Jack... :-p

So, one would think with all the orange bikes around Houston, there would be at least one brake pedal short of Dallas! What the heck, there has to be at least 3 models for each of the last 3 years that run the same stinking pedal - this is just crazy. Sorry, I had to rant.

Re: Thanksgiving Weekend - 11/25/10 10:46 AM

Thanks Guys, it appears that I am grounded until Sunday anyway, another kids party to go to, Ahhhhhhhh! Oh well, they suffered though my kids, payback smile
Hope to see someone out there on Sunday if the weather holds and UPS really delivers on Friday!

Thank you Chip at Munn Racing!!

Funny Robbie, you know I expect not to be able to get parts same day with the GasGas, which is getting closer, btw. But with 10,000 KTMs in Houston, you would expect there to be some damn spare parts!

Halls has my list of goodies and Les over at LT has said that he has all the parts to re-spring the GASGAS for my weight and our TX riding.

Re: Thanksgiving Weekend - 11/26/10 09:41 AM

Hello from Skull Creek, and happy Thanksgiving to everyone. We had a great Thanksgiving feast yesterday and great weather until the cold front blew through around 5pm, wish you all could be here. A couple of tarps, a good camp fire, and big screen movie kept everybody happy into the night.

We got a little bit of rain through the night, but not too much - trails should be primo condition today. We're expecting cool weather for the rest of the weekend, but should be dry so come out if you can!

Re: Thanksgiving Weekend - 11/26/10 10:21 AM

Then I have to find a pedal! Maybe I can come out after the birthday thing tomorrow smile

Re: Thanksgiving Weekend - 11/26/10 02:26 PM

Rob,
I have two complete brake assemblies. Both are a little different. I have one all cleaned up and going to go on my 2004 450. I will bring both with me on Saturday morning to Skull Creek. Plenty of roast and turkey sandwiches available.

Super, Munn Racing saves the day again. Got the replacement about an hour ago and it is now on! I may come out in the morning, meet kristi to go to the party and then come back for an afternoon ride. do parents schedule these kids parties in the middle of the day to mess everyone up? My wife just did the same with our kid, too early to do any thing for the morning and too late in the day for afternoon plans, WTF! We need a plan here smile

I just have to laugh Rob. All the years I have ridden Gas Gas and people always questioned getting parts for them. I never had an issue. Now I have heard countless times man I can't get no shifter, brake pedal, etc, etc, for my yammie ot KTM. LMAO

If you plan ahead and have an extra shifter, rear brake pedal, levers, etc. You know the most common items that break. Then you have no issues. I am giving Girard the extra's I had for my old bike.

Re: Thanksgiving Weekend - 11/26/10 05:38 PM

Robby, Looks like the GasGas is close. They are getting things ready, have Les at LTRacing lined to to re-spring for "tubby" and then it is just shipping and paying for the darn thing.

I hope to make it out to SC sometime around 1 Saturday, see you all there! save some woods for me!

PS: I have a spare front brake lever and m/c assembly, spare clutch lever, just no footy things smile Going to fix that and then start looking for some spares for the GG.
