UTV 1st overall at TORRA Desert Race - 03/15/17 10:18 PM

Feb 25th Sierra Blanca Texas- UTV Desert Racing just rose to a new level at the Titan Fuel Tanks TORRA Tres Amigos 175 sanctioned by the Tejas Off Road Racing Association (TORRA). Alex Nicholas was able to navigate a 7 mile section of the 28 mile dusty West Texas desert loop faster than the larger more powerful vehicles to take first PRO UTV and the overall victory in the combined Truck/Buggy/Pro UTV race by a margin of three minutes. I am sure this didn't sit well with the normally dominate unlimited class vehicles, and I am sure they will be looking to put that and the UTV field behind them at the next event which will be held in conjunction with ULTRA4 (promoters of KING OF THE HAMMERS)April 7-9 in Sierra Blanca TX. Not to be outdone by the PRO UTV's the STOCK UTV's put on a clinic earlier in the day on just how to take on the West Texas desert! John Hyde piloting his Yamaha YXZ1000r took full advantage of an earlier STOCK UTV only race. Having a course not chewed up yet by the QUAD and MOTORCYCLE race to be held later, or the larger trucks proved beneficial in allowing him to set a faster 6 lap elapsed time (20 minutes faster) than their highly modified PRO UTV cousins. Time will tell if this is a one hit wonder or if more of this type of UTV results are ahead of us! One thing we do know, the Titan Fuel tanks TORRA desert series is fast becoming the premier Texas true desert racing series for Motorcycles, Quads, UTV's Trucks, Buggies and of course UTV's.
