Re: Official Emma riding thread - 07/22/09 10:43 PM

I just got back from another loop and I've had enough, I'm throwing in the towel, I give up. smile
After 1 day at Cross Creek, 4 days at Emma Long and lots of road miles, all in 100+ temps, my bike and I are thoroughly beaten and abused. I think it's best to quit while I'm ahead.
I had a great time riding around here.

Re: Official Emma riding thread - 02/01/10 06:27 PM

It is about a 10 mile loop, One way. Lots of rock ledges, very nice. Winds around with good elevation changes. Very nice parking area. You need a current TX offroad sticker. It is patrolled regulary.

Re: Official Emma riding thread - 02/02/10 05:32 AM

Hey Paul and Chuck and anybody else, let's get some riding in. I just picked up a kx 250 and haven't rode in a couple years (off road that is) I'm really stoked and am going to look the bike over this week. I don't own a truck just motorcycles, so I guess I'm going to reserve a truck. I'm out of class the whole day on Friday, let me know what everyones schedule is!

Re: Official Emma riding thread - 02/16/10 10:15 PM

I'll be making my way to Emma Long this weekend. This map-www.texasoffroad.net/files/174441-_CityPark.jpg, has a date of 2003-2004. Is the map still up todate with trail directions.

I've never riden the Motorcycle track and hope to try 02-20-2010 or 02-21-2010.

Anyone willing to be a trailguide?

thanks

Re: Official Emma riding thread - 02/16/10 10:54 PM

Brandon, sorry but this weekend is the annual two-day Texas state series trials event. The park is closed except for spectators, and spectators aren't allowed to ride the trails.

You can come see what the park is all about and see some great trials riding. The good riders will be starting around 1:00 PM Saturday and Sunday.

Re: Official Emma riding thread - 03/13/10 09:37 AM

OK this is my first post, But I'm kinda spooked of emma long and would like someone to please show my the Ropes.
I Drove my Husqvarna TE450 there a few times and was seriously kinda lost. I found my own little loop then Ripped some trail.
I recently purchased this bike though in Dec. My new safty gear shoud be here on the 16th or 17th of march. I'm really just looking for people to ride with. I sold my last bike cause Riding alone made me think of being lost in the woods with a broken neck. All of the childhood friends have moved on/turned queer, or whatever. lolz
Different strokes for different folks ..
Hope I find someone soon, to ride with, the name is Jeremy. Show me the ropes and I'll give you a run for your money (-:. anyways Don't leave me in the woods with a broken neck.

Re: Official Emma riding thread - 03/27/10 03:04 AM

Re: Official Emma riding thread - 03/27/10 03:11 AM

I would think the rocks there would ruin a set of street tires, but perhaps not if the compound weren't too soft. But if it had a harder compound traction would probably be terrible, too. Then you risk hurting yourself and/or the bike.

If it were me, I'd get a spare set of dirt wheels for this task, especially since dirt wheels are pretty cheap compared to supermoto wheels. This could also have you set up with a more appropriate rear sprocket for offroad. This should be pretty easy to get used from someone parting out a bike on the TON classifieds.

Re: Official Emma riding thread - 03/29/10 05:34 AM

yea with the big rocky hits, you'd bend your rims and ruin your tires.

Re: Official Emma riding thread - 04/01/10 02:12 PM

I up my tire pressure to 18 - 20lbs for City Park. 20 for sure if you ride that place hard and are a big ol boy, like me. I like to soften my suspension for this place. Years ago we would go right after or during a light rain. It's slick in a few places but it was a blast and really tests your skills. Wet rocks - nothing like it! I shoe on my hard terrain Dunlop 739s for CP. You would hate it on supermoto tires and they would be toast before you finished a lap. Doug is right, get you some a set of offroad wheels & tires for your bike, you will be glad you did.
