Be careful riding at Skull Creek. Major washout's on haul roads! Two of my buddies were ridng there and hit one today. One is in hospital and one has a hurt foot. Both bike's also damaged pretty bad. Washout was very large with water running thru and hard to see especially wound out in fifth gear.

I'm the hurt foot. My friend that was riding with me is in the hospital with several broken things; a broke neck, broke clavical, seperated sternum, and many broke ribs. I don't know any details yet but I truly believe he will be just fine, apparently it didn't injure his spine. He walked to my truck, thank God.

DON'T RIDE UNLESS YOU SEE WHAT'S AHEAD OF YOU!!!!

We were on the road just past the snake house heading towards the wooded trails in the back. On the gas about average, not really booking it, I have a fresh top end and he just bought the bike, his first ride on this bike so we were taking it relatively easy. There was a small crest in the road which blinded the was out, absolutely couldn't see until we were within a few feet of it. I was just ahead of him and locked up my brakes completely but realized I was going over so I slid/dropped the bike on my right side hoping I wouldn't go over (didn't care about the bike obviously). Didn't work, the bike and I flew off at an uncomfortably high rate of speed. As I was tumbling I saw him nose over about 3 feet or so from me. It was as nasty of a fall that I have ever seen in person. Fortunately I was able to get him up and back on the road, retrieved my truck and took him to the ambulance in Altair. As time went on I was unable to walk on my foot but thanks to a couple TRHers we retrieved my bike loaded everything in my truck and I was able to make it home ok.

It looked like the wash out is about 50 yards long and 20 or so feet deep. BE CAREFUL OUT THERE, THIS IS DANGEROUS. We are lucky to be alive right now!!

Ed how are you feeling? I didn't realize it was you and Brad. Tell Brad that we are thinking about him as well.

Doing pretty good, walking on my foot again. Hope to be back on the bike by Sidewinders. I'll pass the message on to Brad, thanks for the concern.

Ed I knew you wanted to match your wife w/the a foot cast but come one you didn't have to hurt yourself to do it. Seriously, I hope you and your friend are doing ok and feeling better now. What is his update now? See you soon.

I appreciate everyone's concern. The truth is I'm ok, walking around just fine these days and working out my shoulder. If all goes well I plan on getting back on the bike this weekend, gotta get ready for Sidewinders!!!

Brad Minter is getting better everyday, he hopes to be back on the bike in 3 months. Lots of broken bones that need to heal. For those of you who know Brad and has his cell phone number he is very much able to take phone calls and I know he would appreciate them, would help lift his spirits. In the interest of not advertising his phone number, I will not post it on this forum. However, if you know him well enough you probably already have it so feel free to call him.

Thanks again,
Ed
