Rumor has it that a bald eagle family has nested near Lake Buchanan and has two young chicks in the nest. I've seen many Red River native turkeys down at the lease. But the Chickhawk population has be descemated. This rare bird has not been seen in it native habititat for weeks.

Poaching is what I suspect. If seen aproach with caution it might be wounded or have an arrow through its' heart.

I heard the chickenhawk a few days ago, and it sounded somewhat bewildered and confused as if it were being stalked by some kind of female predator. Usually the reclusive behavior is normal in such a case where the male species has a condition know as "craniumintorectumluvitis". Sometimes the species feels awkward and ashamed of its uncontrolable behavior. Symptoms usually go away after 6-12 months.

I talked to someone who lives in "Kitty-kway" (thanks RedwRiter for the correct pronunciation in Endo News) and they said they were sure they saw a "Chickhawk" on the Grand Prix track . They further said that the sighting was confirmed by a Gin worker and an Allsups employee. They said that "it" was seen trying to ride something blue . It was tumbling awkwardly over by where the old Motor home with the "boom box" was parked on Enduro week-end. I told him it sounded like "it" might be practicing for the "parade lap" for next years Grand Prix .
