Does anyone have crank installation and case splitter tools I could borrow?

Thanks, yeah, will do that if I don't find some to borrow. I already have the flywheel/clutch holder and a flywheel puller set. Just figured I'd ask before I purchased. I hate buying tools that only get used every 5-10 years.

Last time I split a case I'm pretty sure I used a hammer, brass drift, and a big flathead screwdriver. smile I don't remember having any problems, but this is a little nicer bike and I'd like to do it right.

if the crank is trashed already, use a hammer to hit the shaft and it will split the case for you. But it will destroy the threads or shaft so only do this if you are tossing the crank. Just did Drex's bike and that's how I did it.

It's in a 01 Plano Honda CR125 factory prepped race bike, so I'd like to save it for a rebuild if I can.

Not sure if you have a welder or not but I made one many moons ago to split the case on my 91 KX125 and it worked great (no clue where it ended up). I took a oversized nut maybe 3/8 or 1/2" and welded 2 flat bars maybe 1/2" wide stood them on edge and welded em to the flats of the nut opposite each other. The length of the flat bars just needs to be maybe 1" wider than the center of each bolt hole distance. You then buy some extra long bolts and HD washer to attach to the threaded holes on each side of the crank shaft I think it might be the stator bolt holes if not mistaken. Then put a bolt into the insert nut in the middle and tighthen the outer 2 bolts till tight against the flat bars and turn the middle bolt against the crank and it will pull the cases apart. Easy to make and it worked great. FYI I just saw one on the internet even easier to make.......take a piece of angle iron and drill a hole in the middle and weld the nut to it for the wedge bolt to go in....then drill 2 holes each side of that to put your long bolts through to thread into to the case holes and pull away.
