When mx properties are used why are the jumps always used in the normal mx fashion? Seems it would be safer and more in tune with woods riding to cross them from the side or different angles as obstacles requiring more technique. I realize this would require the "ok" from the track owner. Just wondering.

Irish they normally are since people in higher classes will still try and jump the obstacles even if it is backward or from the side which would end up making it more dangerous. But yes i do get your point. You have your woods technique in the woods and if there is a Moto track you have to adapt to the course that is given. A good rider is not just a woods rider or Moto rider it is both. Look who is winning the pro class Forrest Player, Jeremy Wanjura, and Even Nathan Goertz are all very good moto riders.

Fast is fast. But I don't think he's talking about the pace. I think he's referring to riding a Mx track as a woods race just the fact of a Mx track.

I agree with Irish. If we wanted to ride a track we would go race on tracks. Same reason why some people do not go to the North groups anymore because they started incorporating tracks at some of their events. But none of us know why Gil chose this property. May be an availability/date thing or just adding to the list of options down the road.

Good discussion. I am not against properties based on an mx track especially since land is so hard to attain. And most everyone likes to go to fresh new trails. I was just suggesting a "creative" take on the serious jumps. If there was an immediate turn, chicane or something similar, that would deter the mx types from just flying them. With most of our tracks basically flat i'll bet using jumps in some manner to break that up would be welcomed. I am not saying to eliminate all of them, by no means. I realize there are some multi-talented racers in TORCS but many of us have zero mx tracks any where near. Whatever, I am sure the new property will be a fun event and I appreciate the effort involved.

I watched the video that was posted really didn't look that appealing to me unless it's changed up. Sweeping turns and couple table tops. But yes I am in agreement. Mx tracks need to be separate from woods. Just my opinion and we all know everyone has one. I think it's a property issue and the willing ness for land owners. Deer season starting and there's no money in letting us run all over.

Guys, this is an 400 acre property. Roll the jumps, the mx track should be a small part of the trail. It'll be a blast, coming in blind to a new property. Gets boring riding the same trail IMO.

What do you do when you are riding up hills and down them on a trail? You ride up and down them, do the same thing if you are not comfortable jumping.

And now I remember why I never get on the forums any more. Y'all have no idea how lucky we are to have a new 400 acre property to race. Due to the rain out from Harvey we were unable to reschedule with rally ranch or Rays Place because of scheduling conflicts. Steven Rathmann had been telling Gil about Spoaks MX for awhile. In one day Gil called the owner, went to see the property, and the gracious owner agreed to let us race there.
