moved your post to correct forum. There are plenty of choices for you. scroll down on the main menu to find a list of racing organizations.

Where are you located in DFW? Toro, Torn, TCCRA are hare scrambles. For enduro look at the TSCEC. For trail riding look to Red River Motorcycle trails, Barnwell Mountian Recration. There are more places, but those are certainly the largest.
The XR600 is a pretty mighty beast for the terrain out here, but is plenty capable as long as you can hold up!
I live out near Forney (south east of the Metroplex).

I used to live just across from Texas Motor Speedway. Its a decent area, but if your a member of one of the West Texas clubs I'd almost say that is way better. Hare scrambles are not my thing. Fun and all, but I suffer from arm pump. Lots of work for 45 minutes or races. Like enduros, but cost and drive time is pretty brutal. Loved the diversity of terrain you got with TSCEC.
I was a member of LTR. 3 times the size of RR with little 4 wheeler or SXS traffic (allowed only on roads and creek beds or working trail). Plenty of challenging single track. Permanent camp with AC if you want. 45 minutes from my house when I lived in lubbock. You have a gate key. Open any time you want. Plenty of great folks to ride with in the club. Hard to beat that with a stick! It costs (yearly dues with no fees every time you ride), but well worth the price of admission. I can't justify it as the drive is 5 hrs and I'd likely only get to uses it a few times a year.
If you have not made an LTR enduro you owe it to yourself to make that trip. A heck of weekend of fun. Likely a Saturday event with separate or very little trail from the Sunday race.
