Been out there in my Jeep. Sounds challenging and fun on a bike .... if you stay away from the port-a-potties.....

Greg spoke to Rusty and this coming weekend is an open date for us to have a ride day. If we do not do a ride day this weekend at Rusty's we will have to wait about six weeks to have an open date to do a ride day.

With that said, I know this weekend is a race weekend for TORCS. Some people race TORCS and others do not. I do not want to conflict with TORCS. However, with weather and conflicts with other events the club must go on.

If we have a ride day this weekend I will try to schedule another ride day in the next few weeks so that the people who want to race TORCS will have an opportunity to ride the trail we set up for this weekend.

Thanks, -Larry

With help from Bobby and Paul, all the face slappers were cut back and ribbons were put up on the main loop in the shady pecan bottom. Bobby cut some stuff that could better be described as body slappers that were growing all the way across the trail. A nice 90-degree sand turn was completely blocked and now it's usable again. Paul put some ribbons up near the parking area that really helped. I haven't ridden there in a long time and I needed the help finding where the trail goes now.

While the racers are away, the trail riders can play.

It's in the same area as Powell's and Goertz, just southwest of Bastrop. Google "rusty's walnut creek ranch".

You going Gilbert? I plan on getting there when the gates open and leaving before it gets too hot.

okay, I'll bring my horse. 3 of us from Houston are planning on coming up, hopefully gates open early, so we can get in and get out before real heat sets in.
Any information on when gates open?

Directions and details are usually posted a few days before the ride, but they usually start riding pretty early, 8-9am.

I have updated the first post of this thread with all the details. Let me know if you have any questions and I, or someone will answer.

Again, we are having this ride which will conflict with TORCS just because it is the only open date that Rusty had for us until late August. I hope to have another ride day later this summer, Rusty willing, for everyone that does not conflict with TORCS.

Thanks,
-Larry

The loop is all set up and marked better than ever!

More than half of the trail is in the shade!

There is a nice breeze and lots of shade in the pecan bottom where we will be parking.

Hope to see a bunch of people out tomorrow to support AMSA and Rusty!

Call Rusty and ask him or one of his workers to go look. We will be at Goertz soon so we can stop by there and get it for you. Just let me know.

I made a pass through the parking area at the end of the day and I picked up Danarcher's lift stand. I'll bring it with me to the next work days and ride day until he can get it from me.
