I was trying to figure out why I had so much fun riding at Avinger. There was rocks, sand, trees, up hills down hills. I have come to the conclusion that Avinger was a challenging track, but not dangerously challenging, but fun challenging. Thanks, more tracks like that please.

It was because I did not set up the track for the SLOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR. Beginners just need to slog thru and suffer. It's a strategy. Ignore the beginner and slower Amateur when setting up track. They can't ride anything well anyway, so don't cater to their needs. It's okay if they bleed a bit.
Also, no purposely installed bottlenecks. like a purposely installed "pinch-point" that is handle bar width for 100 yards or a hill you have to wait in line for.
No "Gotchas" ...which is indescribable so the best that can be said is no ""AHHH HAAA, I knew (that) would get someone !! hahah" like a head knocker limb or an impossible jump, 8 foot deep water crossing.
PLUS it is the best thing to get lucky on the terrain the property offers. Avinger has hero terrain without being super hard like Barnwell.
I am glad you had a good time !!

The first time I read this, I completely disagreed. Had to re-read it a couple times to notice you're differentiating between a slow amateur and an average amateur. Totally agree with that. Build tracks/courses for the fast novice, average intermediate riders. That's where the majority of people fall in terms of skill level. Throw in a few "fast guy" options, make sure it's at least safe for the goons, and you've got a killer course.

Once I get you to actually race one your opinion might matter.

We had a great time riding the big track Saturday, though did not race it Sunday. My kid was going to take a crack at the mini series for the first time Sunday aboard his pee wee bike but got buried seat high in the slop crossing that pallet in the water. Took forever to dig him outta there and decided to stick with peewee one more race. (i heard that may have been taken out later, not sure) All that said, we still had a great time riding the track! Thanks to all involved!

Man, it's gutsy to try the big track on a PeeWee bike. it's been done before by some Riders. Before there was a PeeWee program DJ McMillion raced the mini program on his pw50.
That slop at the bridge was a weird one. Never woulda called it developing where it did. I am gonna try to move that bridge to be "even" across, not up or down.
Glad you guys had fun.
