Going to ask this on the other forums as well.
Why can't the 4 series that race this way( Toro, Torn, Tccra, and lonestar offroad) all use the same numbers, so racers don't have to get new backrounds when they race a different series? They all use transponders to score and numbers for back up. If they were all the same it would be better on the riders budget.

Just be glad you have a number system! We used to race TCCRA and TORO so I know what your talking about. When we moved to Colorado we now race CORCS... they have no number system... literally.... If you want the number and its not taken you can have it. Which makes it completely impossible to track what place your rider is in because you cant just look for the 600's etc. I would LOVE to just have to worry about changing backgrounds.

Just the opposite, raced out west doing the worcs series and had no numder system except for back ground colors and loved it. They had 1600 entry's at the last race and no trouble, final results in less then 1 hour.

Never understood this about offroad. No issues in motocross races either, even without transponders.

Mx races don't generally have as many riders running at one time. You can have 100-200 riders all riding in the same time slot. The number specification is nice for several reason. It helps out the officials scoring. It also helps the racers to determine in the race if someone is in the class or not. I have been in races without class numbers. You can end up with someone in a completely different class blocking you from a pass cause they don't want to give up a position. Lost a 1st place finish once cause of this very reason. Afterwards he realized he held me up after a lengthy verbal altercation. All that said it would be great for the series with the same classes to use a uniform number system. But some guys would still have issues cause they ride different classes in each circuit. A simple letter like a661 b661 c661 for the age and ability classes would drastically unify a lot of series.

Good point about the number of riders on the track, but your suggestion of adding letters would fix that. Or colored backgrounds would work too.

white = A
black = B
yellow = C
blue = vet

It's so easy to figure these problems out on the Internet from my couch.

Lol. Right. It all sounds good in theory. However it would be AWESOME to be running the same numbers at all the series. It will never happen but it would be cool.

After years of compition between Mx track promoters, they have FINALY started the Texas Mx Aliance, may the Crosscountry organizations should look into this also,
Just a thought!!!
