Please let me know if you will be able to help with race day activities. We will need course marshal's and help with sign in and probably some other things. So let me know if you can commit or are a maybe. Thanks, -Larry

It will be nice to lay out a sand track here where everything is wide enough for a side-by-side ATV. People can ride their MX bikes without fear of smacking their fingers in the tight trees. A lot of people have contributed to the "grass track" sections here and it's going to really pay off now.

Might be a good time to put one of those wide front sand tires on. This track will be all sand and all fun.

We have had a ton of help with this loop. It turns out that a low area runs across one half of the property and we found with the recent rain that it cut off some trail when run the traditional way. We had enough people to reroute the loop and avoid the mud, and to add even more flowing trail in some very nice rolling terrain.

The entire race loop is wide enough for a side-by-side ATV/UTV to pass through without anything touching. No face slappers, no tight trees - no hand guards required. The hero sand conditions should persist through the race weekend. It'll be a lot of fun to ride this loop at speed!

Rafael, Andy Mack, Bob, Jess, Stephan, Jamie, Larry, and George put a lot of effort into the trail. I hope I spelled all those right and if I left anyone out I apologize. This was a team effort and everyone should be proud of what was accomplished.

I hope the South Texas guys have polished off the top two gears in the transmission. They will get more use than usual.

I'll borrow some words from Ronnie Montrose - it's gonna be like rock candy, baby - hot, sweet, and sticky!

Here is a link to the XCD rule book: http://www.tscec.org/s/TSCEC-XCD-2015-2016-rule-book.docx
It's accessible from the TSCEC FAQ page at: http://www.tscec.org/faq/

I didn't see anything in there about teams except the fees for a team (up to three riders). Can anyone else fill us in?

Can we pay with a card at the race? I know majority of the North Texas Series only take cash. I really need to know how much money to ask my wife to give me...

If you want to sign up with a credit card you need to sign up online. See first post above.

There is a $10 per rider land use fee that needs to be paid in cash. If you race more than one race the land use fee is still a one time $10 fee. In other words the land use fee is not per race.

Spectators are $5 per person. There is no spectator fee if for example a person races and brings their "Non-Racer" boy/girl friend or spouse or kids to watch them race.

Thanks,
-Larry

If you have a transponder through TORCS, can you use that for this race or do you have to purchase a new one?

If you have to purchase a new one, can both be on the helmet visor at the same time? I ask because I only have one helmet and one visor.

The scoring system transponder for TSCEC XCD is a different system than the system that TORCS uses.

The TORCS transponder should not affect the TSCEC XCD transponder since the system that TSCEC XCD uses will not recognize the TORCS transponder.

Hope that answers your questions?

Thanks,
-Larry

Rules only specify the # or riders and cost per team. Nothing more. Does anyone have anything to add?

From a post from a XCD racer .....

It is a tag team style race. Riders rotate each lap. Rider #1 the first lap, Rider #2 the second lap, etc.

You can ride one bike and switch off or each rider can have their own bike.

$10 per racer with a maximum of three racers per team.

Race duration is 1.5 hours.

I am sorry to say that the caterer decided not to come to the event.

So there will be no concessions at this event.

However, there are many local and close by places to eat if you do not want to cook out.

I am pretty certain a team must be made up of two or three riders. They can match you up with someone if need be.

The terrain has no rocks except for river rock in the creek beds. The terrain is made up of sand, sandy loam, and loam. Maybe some clay here and there. When we GPS the course there was 200 FT of elevation change from the lowest point on the course to the highest point on the course. No major hills on this course. The elevation changes are gradual but noticeable.

Hope that helps!

Want to give a huge thank you to everyone that helped to make this race possible and especially to George for hosting the race out at his place. I raced both days and woke up with a smile still on my face on Monday morning. What a blast the track layout was. After riding mostly tight woods for so long it was a nice change of pace to do so much riding in the upper part of the gear box. The track conditions were nothing short of hero dirt for both days. Once again, AWESOME job guys and hope to see ya'll at the next ride day.

Awesome race and awesome property. Colored dots on helmets to distinguish classes would have been nice. I never knew who I was passing. But nevertheless, thank you for keeping out of the phycologists office. I wish you had more races closer to SW Texas area.

I want to say a HUGE Thank You to George McMahan and Wayne McMahan for trusting myself and AMSA for this weekend's first race at their ranch near Smithville, TX. I also want to thank them for their never ending friendship with myself and AMSA over the past several years allowing us to host numerous events at their ranch. I hope that we have just began and we will have many more events to come for all to enjoy! Forever grateful!

I want to say a MILLION thanks to my many friends who worked so hard together as a team to help in difficult conditions to lay out a fast, flowing track that everyone would enjoy. The preparation was long and brutal at times. Myself and Greg Messer initially laid out the main portion of the track and cut bypasses while it rained all day long in an effort to scope out a track that could hold up in the event that we had bad weather conditions. During that first rainy work day a nearby race event at Goertz Ranch was cancelled due to bad weather conditions. Greg and I soldiered on. At one place we had a major issue with water and the team cut a bypass to get around those impassable swampy conditions. A culvert was installed. Wayne McMahan spent several days on a tractor to make certain the crossing was safe and durable. His efforts paid off and the passing was flawless. Great job Wayne McMahan. Later, many people followed behind us and laid out additional trail to complete an epic course. I cannot say thanks enough to all that helped!

I want to say a MILLION thanks for all of my friends who most graciously worked all weekend long to help pull this event off. Everyone was available to do whatever we needed in the moment to make things happen. Some people had less desirable duties but they stayed the course to help us make things happen. I cannot say thanks enough!

I hope that everyone enjoyed the weekend and the overall experience!

Last, but not least, thanks to everyone who came out to support this weekends event! Without your support these events would not happen! Thank you!

Stay tuned!!!!!

Thanks,
-Larry

Guys... please give Larry and Greg a pat on the back next time you see them.
I am sure there are other folks deserve it as well, I just do not know their names.

After the race on Sunday when every one was packing up and leaving... I saw these two guys (Larry and Greg) going back out to the trails and pulling ground stakes and ribbons. I do not know if they had all clean up done that day.

I wanted to stay, but my dear leader (wife) had this funny look on here face when I asked; and I knew she had to go to work early Monday morning. We still had good 2-2.5 hour drive home and she wanted to stop for groceries.

Larry... if you need help with clean up this weekend, send me a PM.

PS: McMahon's are great folks, and their ranch is one of my favorite place to ride on. It has So much potential...
I've briefly met George McMahon's son Will out on the trail riding his UTV, it was getting dark and I get lost. He offered me a beer and showed me the way back to camp. Such friendly folks...

Thanks George !

Myself, Greg Messer and Richard Jacobs finished taking down all the stakes and red tape off the course after the race Sunday. Long day but I slept like a rock Sunday night ! wink

Thanks! I understand needing to get on the road.

It might have looked like work, but in reality I got to ride my bike and work until dark. That's always the best way to end the day!

So many people helped out with this event. There were people who worked the gate, helped with sign-up, helped with finding and cutting all the trail re-routes, got the trophies, got the porta-cans, got the EMS crew, did administrative duties, hammered stakes, tied course tape, cut ALL the face slappers, slogged through mud, sweated when the sun came out, froze working in the mornings, ... All of it was necessary and contributed significantly to getting it done.

And I heard people all day getting answers to every question from Larry - he held it wfo and didn't stop until everything was finished. The club as a whole put on a fun event!

And I want to really thank AMSA, the whole club, for fulfilling my dream, Which was to have a real MC race on my land! I've been involved with bikes since I was 14, have seen clubs and race promoters lose SO MANY race sites, Enduro sites that I've always wanted to own enough land for a race, and to know that "WE" could not get kicked off. Besides all the AMSA members, Larry Greg, Bobab, Bob, Andy, Bobby, etc etc, so many other non-members showed up to help just because they wanted to. Thanks to Richard Jacobs, Marty Howell, Randy Damron, Archie Taliafero, Steve Thompson and all of the others for all their help. And it was so good to see all the WT guys drive down, even though it was a long trip, great to see my ole friend Clifton Goertz, my young friend Kelton Miller and all the others plus all the new friends that came by and said thanks. And HUGE Kudos to Pam and John Prosser and Steve Neff for everything they did. Sunday was Neff's birthday and he was still there working his butt off to make sure the riders had the best experience possible and to help John get everything scored perfectly. Which they did! All in all, a great race and a great weekend. Larry "Quarterbacked" an outstanding event, the only problem I see, since the weather was so good, is how are we going to better next year? But I promise we will all be trying!
