Yes, camping will be allowed. Also, Larry may touch on this in his final update, but we are currently under a burn ban in Bastrop County. No campfires or open flame grills, so plan your menu accordingly if camping.

Next Ride = We have been INVITED to McMahan Ranch near Smithville, TX.

TIME

We will begin riding at 9 A.M. each day. The temperatures will be about 10 degree's cooler this weekend so heat should not be a problem. Plus we want to be good neighbors with noise.

COST

$20 for current AMSA members.

We are not taking any more memberships this year as memberships expire on December 31, 2015.

$30 for guests. Anyone can be a guest. Everyone is welcome. Your guest fee includes a day membership to AMSA.

Pee Wee riders & beginner riders not riding the trail system will ride at a reduced rate, our discretion.

Non-riders do not pay any fee's.

Four Wheeler's are welcome. However we do not have a trail system set up for you. However, we do have miles of jeep roads and fields that you may ride in.

No racing quads.

CAMPING

Camping is free thanks to the McMahan's.

You may camp both Friday and Saturday nights.

If you are camping you will pay for two days of riding.

NOTE: BURN BAN IN EFFECT. NO CAMP FIRES OR CHARCOAL GRILLES! So plan your meals accordingly!

TRAILS - TERRAIN

We have over 12 miles of "single" track for you this weekend.

We have relatively easy single track and we have butt kicking single track. We have easy hard splits marked so you can choose your poison.

We have an 8 mile loop and then you can go back to camp. All the creek beds are in.

We have a extended 12 + mile loop and then you go back to camp. There are some tough creek bed climbs for those who want to get adventurous but we ask that you do not ride the large creeks or venture off the marked trail system alone just in case! wink

There is a large sand pit with some vertical and near vertical hill climbs. There are some easy lines as well.

There are lots of area's for beginner's to ride in a field or jeep roads. Just ask us at the gate at sign in if you have special needs and we will direct you to what you want to ride.

This is a family oriented dirt bike club and we want to make things safe for family's and beginners and young one's.

DIRECTIONS

LAT: 29.984019 LONG: -97.134377

From Austin. Take HWY 71 East to Smithville. There are three (3) exits in Smithville. You want to that the third (3rd) exit and stay on the feeder road to 230 (also named Old Lake that curves south). Turn right on 230 (Old Lake) for one quarter (1/4) mile. Turn left onto Old Lake Road and drive three quarters (3/4) of a mile to #290 Old Lake Road where you will see a large, light brown, pipe gate on your right. It has a iron sign that says "McMahan Ranch". From the entrance you will drive to the second (2nd) gate where you will our EZ UP and sign in You must sign-in BEFORE you ride.

Hope to see everyone out to have some fun riding and to enjoy the McMahon Ranch.

Thanks,
-The McMahan Family & AMSA

Greg Messer has done so much work on trail set up since I have been injured that I cannot size it.

The club and riders need to give Greg a HUGE THANK YOU for all he has done to set up these ride days!

Thanks Greg, Larry.

Greg has done A LOT! And as a reminder, y'all have probably heard about the fires around Smithville, it is really dry in my pastures so PLEASE no smoking and no campfires! If y'all want to cook out Saturday night, maybe we can fire up our gas grill at the barn but we cannot take the chance of charcoal grills out in the pastures, the grass is very dry. Amazingly, most of the trails are in the shade of those huge trees, they are in pretty good shape. See Y'all this weekend. George
