Drex's first run with his invention the "MicroBike". Basically it's a scooter with a weedeater engine attached and some pulleys with a belt to make it go. He designed, built and best of all paid for the whole project himself. It has been a huge learning curve for him. This is still at the testing stage with a direct drive but the mechanics are there to have a slipper gear to get it started and then ride and stop. He just wanted to see if it was going to work at all after all his work. Yep it did. By the sound the carb needs tuning with the extra load on it.
When I was in Jr.High (late '60s) there were mini-bike frame kit plans in the Mechanics Illustrated mags... and my buddies and I built a couple of versions using old B&S lawnmower engines, plus one friend converted his dad's old lawnmower into a kind of dead-trap go-kart. We had great fun building and riding the mini-bikes... and we got really good at rebuilding those centrifugal clutches!
