This weekend we will be working all day Saturday and Sunday preparing the race course for next weekend. There is still a lot of work to be done so come on out and lend a hand. It's been quite challenging blazing new trails and linking them up on a property that had no trail system.

There will be no race day pre-ride. This weekend will be the last chance to ride the trails which are quit challenging and different from Skull Creek prior to the race. You have been warned...hahahaaa :-)

Race weekend 2/21-22 we will also need help putting final touches on the course and workers for race day.

The weather has been great! Come on out and join in the fun!

Cheers

Juliet, Eric & I have been busting our butts making a race course on a property with no trails. Eric deserves all of the credit for the race course. Every time I said "it looks kinda tuff Eric" he said "they're going to hate us any way"...hahahaaaa...

We need some help Saturday finishing everything and Sunday working safety points.

It's your club...get involved!

Cheers

P.S. This race is all about energy management.

We will definitely need some help this next weekend! If you don't plan on racing please offer to help.
We need 4-5 more people for Safety Points and a min. 2 sweep riders to drag the bodies off the main racing line for the few survivors trying to make it to the end of their 1st lap.

Juliet wanted me to clarify that there will be riding allowed on Saturday race weekend.

Sunday there will be no pre-race practice lap before the race.

Naw...we just worked to get trails where ever possible in the shortest amount of time. There's a little bit of everything including a long beach run around the big lake, technical stuff, hard, sandy, climbs, drop-ins, ruts, washouts, etc...

We only had so much time and manpower. There is a lot more to be connected up and we didn't even use the ~25% of the property inside the cattle fence.

It should be fun and you will get your monies worth! ;-)

Also we have a great kids race course that Juliet laid out...you should be able to view most of their race.

I've had a few people ask me about parking. It's really not that bad, just don't drop the hammer and start spinning your wheels(same with the bikes). It's primarily sand and gravel for the most part. I'll do my best to post up property, race and parking conditions Saturday night.

See you there!

Yup weather is nice. There has been no measurable rain in two weeks...just some spitting and drizzle.

The race course is looking good. Approximately 8.5 miles long. We still have a lot of work to do today so come on out and lend a hand.

We will post updates here as needed but the weather is great and the race a go!

Cheers,

Kenny

We were a bit worried how people would like it with the challenging terrain and no measurable rain in three weeks but the responses were great! It made all of the hard work worth while.

Thanks to Eric, Juliet and all of the people who helped...we pulled it off!

There is still a lot more riding to be had at the 1100. We'll be adding more trails and terrain in new areas soon.

I just wish I could take today off...I'm wooped!

The race course you guys and gals built was SUPREME! Somewhere on the first lap I nearly puked in my helmet, started cussing at the people who built the course, then just started laughing at it. Checked my watch, I was only 20 minutes into it LOL still had a long way to go. It was brutal and technical, but thats why it was so mucho fun. The off camber ant hills were awesome. That track forced riders to ride smart and smooth. Lets go back there and do the course again in the next couple weeks, but at night just for a 2 lap trail ride. The final drop into the quarry should be named Niagra Falls. I just kept telling myself, dont fall in front of all these people! A+ course.

My 1'st lap, I was thinking that I never want to ride in this place ever again. But on the second lap, I realized what was coming up next, and it all started to flow. I was doing very well in my class, then I noticed the fluid spilling on my crotch was not camelback water, but gas. I had lost my gascap ! I was ready for another lap or 2 !

Yes it was awesome. What a great course. My 1st lap I was following Lynn through the off camber ant hills and I veered left too much and my bike fell into a wash out. Took me a while to get it out it was just spinning. Finally was able to launch it onto the trail. My 2nd lap I fell on an up hill. My bike died and didn't want to start. I was there for what seemed like 5 minutes kicking on it. I had to pick up the bike and move it left so I had some footing to get a good kick on it. Finally got it started but I was winded. It took me a good half a lap to start picking up speed again. My 3rd lap I was starting to figure some things out and by my 4th I finally had a good lap with no mistakes. What a challenging course but so much fun. Thanks!!!

I would like to thanks all the workers who came out and helped clean, mark, score and marshall the course. Also the guys who came out and helped me shovel some dirt around to make the impossible, possible.

If anyone zero'd out their odometer before the start I would really like to know your actual mileage just as a reference. I don't have an odometer on my bike so the 8.5 came from an online mapping software.

What a trail! I was the idiot on the TW200 aka 'little big wheel'. I never dreamed the trail would have been that intense. I threw in the towel at around mile 4. I was wore out on that tractor. Sorry guys if I slowed you up on one of the 50 hill climbs I got stuck on. Thanks to Dr. D too I wore him out and felt bad I probably wouldn't of made it without his help!!

No problem Jake. The guys will ether run over you or around. I was the race official on the yellow quad that gave you directions out and laughing at you & Dr. D...I'm still not sure who was sweeping who?

Glad you got that bike re-started...I wasn't about to come down there and do it for you! Hahahaaaa...

Curt great video! Eric and I spent a lot of time with blister to prove it driving stakes and stapling arrows. We've been over every inch of it but that's my first view of the full course in one continuous loop on a bike.

We'll be adding mileage to those trails. Plus there's two more sections of different terrain we haven't even started to mark. So there will be more to come BUT for now I have no plans to touch a staple gun for at least a month!

Cheers

That's right Charlie. But, this time, look back, if you don't see me, wait till I catch up so we can race.
Hopefully, I wont see that much sand again for a while.

Hey Jake, You're more than welcome to come out and ride with me anytime! That course was intense for all the guys in your class so don't let not finishing get you down.

We probably need to get you on a little different bike though. See if you can find an older 250 2-stroke on craigslist or something.

Good luck and hope to see you soon. My email/phone# is on the race flyer if you ever want to ride one weekend.

Thanks Eric! I'll have to take you up on the ride. I'm new to the area and have a friend who is also new that rides. I've got a 2002 rm250. I just wanted to try out the TDub! Me or the little bike didn't know what we were getting in to though smirk

It's a toss-up between Jeff and Rob Granger who needs to be nickname "Yard Sale"...

:-p

*EDIT*

P.S. Problem solved...

Jeff "Yard Sale" Wilson & Rob "Garage Sale" Granger

...they have a nice ring!

Did anyone get a U-boat trophy for putting a bike into one of the ponds?

Not a lot of carnage race day...I heard one young lady on the short course took the pro line through the corner of the big lake but momentum carried her through with no major problems.

Now on the weekends proceeding the race I attempted a back flip on a quad but came up short with a 180 :-/

Oh...and John Fuqua did do his signature quad barrel roll into the water prerace also. :-p

Cheers
