Just go to a local shop here or there. We went to a place called J and j moto sports in Breckenridge. on a 150... we went down from 35 to a 32 main jet.. but that wont apply to you at all

houston density-altitude works out to be about 2000 to 2500 ft in the summer. can you compare your houston jetting to the 9000ft specs in the back of the owners manual (there should be a jetting chart in there for temp vs altitude).

for example on a 450 bike, i ran 185 main in houston and 174-176 at 9000-14000ft. i also brought oxygenated race gas to help compensate for the lack of oxygen in the air. the main jet would be least of your issues though (unless racing). getting the pilot and needle will be key to easy starting and quarter throttle crispness. as a swag guess, i would try 1 or 2 sizes smaller on the pilot and go 1 needle leaner. or drop $75 on a JD jetting kit.

are you using a 40 pilot in houston and 175 main?
total guess would be something like dropping to a 35 pilot, 168 main and 1 leaner needle (or raise your clip 2-3 spots if possible). can adjust the accelerator pump too, the JD jet kits include a small rubber o-ring usually to slip over the pump arm. its an easy mod.

i bet a search on ktm talk would yield lots of good advice from folks who have actually run that motor at that elevation.

Just got this bike used yesterday. I plan on jetting after my son gets to ride it this weekend, have no clue what the current jets are set at, bike is stock. Will open up carb Sunday and know where I stand. BTW, I did just plop down $80 for the JD Kit. Don't want to worry about his bike not running and him not having a good time!!

Thanks!!

Rule of thumb for us when we ride in Colorado and Cloud Croft. go down 10% everywhere. we got lazy and just started dropping the mains. but they do run better if you do the pilot as well.

40 becomes a 36 (35 or 38 works) 180 becomes a 162 (10% of 180 is 18). and so on.
Typically you are there trail riding and the "perfect race jetting" is not needed.

FYI Connor's 35 to a 32 is 10%

PLUS no one wants to spend their "vacation riding time", jetting a bike. Just get it close and have fun.
