you already did your thing with the pole!

Sorry if this sounds brash, but it really doesn't matter about conducting a poll because it's totally up to me and the race chairman as to how we want to start the race. If you truly want something done differently, then step up and put on a race. I promise you that suggestions carry more weight when they come from people who are putting in their time and energy to make these events happen. You, personally, might be in a catch 22 because of your age but the majority of the people who complain are not.
Even with your poll, you are going to get a bunch of different opinions which all bias towards that persons favor. Some want mx because thats what they are good at, some want dead engine because of the 'magic button', some want standing off the bike because they are pretty athletic. Personally, I like the mixing it up. Maybe we can have a spelling bee of legal terms before one just to favor you!

Personally, I would not spend my time and energy worrying about such things. Your efforts and time are too valuable and you should use them by getting some seat time and practicing to build those skills!

LOL that was funny.

I think the dead engine start was originally intended to do 2 things:
1. make it interesting/different
2. spread the field apart a little before turn 1

i have an electric starter with lithium battery and still think kicking works better.. but i dont have a rekluse, that would make launching faster on the dead engine starts. at least my trans would hate me less..

it was even funnier if you saw what he did to the pole!

we could always draw numbers and line everyone up in an offset line like they did for one of the sx restarts this past season.

you are exactly right about spreading the field. And as long as we change things up so that each rider will have his own advantage on one race during the season, everyone can be happy.(well almost everyone)

Hee! Hee! I'm the next race chairman.I can't wait!!! wink

First of all the start is uphill!

Riders will stand behind the line in their shorts with all their gear in a pile 50 yards in front of them.
When the flag drops, they will run & get their gear on watching out that they don't tread on any thistles on the way.
Then they will run another 50 yards & mount their bikes!

Seriously, the main reason for a dead engine start is safety - tends to split up the riders before the first bend. After all, starting your bike is a skill just as much as riding it.

You may want to clarify "mount their bikes", I heard Rob rides without underwear!

I would do any thing to put on a race/ chair it but i would need a few things
1. A ride out there when i am needed
2. a sc member ship
3. Permission to use a chain saw( i can use hatchets/ other stuff
4. Permission to chair it
5. A instrumental video(preferably step by step)
6. A tent/ camper
7. Permission
8. I would like to put the pole dance behind me... That was before i went to school! had to support my racing some how!!
9. the reason people dont like dead engines is because some peoples bikes wont start for 20 kicks and then by then your screwed.
10. I bet you my pole will bring in more mx start votes than any other, but im not really betting anything.. just a figure of speech.
11. the reason we spend so much time and energy is because we like wasting ours and other peoples lives, its just the way we are.
12. If you are still reading this then i congratulate you
13.go make me a sandwich
14. If you let me, i would like to chair an event. Plz Plz Plz Plz??? with a pair of goggles on top??????!!!
15. no really i want a sandwich, John-your the pit bitch right? chop chop
16. No really i want to chair one- what ever that meanz

We will see Kenny out there racing in his thong just to get a holeshot!.Not a good idea either!

Please explain where a guy/girl on a kick-start 4 stroke would EVER have any sort of advantage on any specific start?

Answer: A lot of hard work!
I've already spent 4 1/2 days out at Brunes Mill working on the track.
