Anyone know of any legal trails other than SH or Skull Creek. I work mostly over the weekends so joining a track or club never seems to work out for me. My buddy and I have been riding SH a lot lately. Looking for something new, maybe with some more open areas instead of tight single track. I'm trying to stay wtihin the Houston area. Thanks

Skull Creek is open 24x7x365 and from what I gather, there are some regulars that go out there during the week. With over 3000 acres, there's probably something for you.

Holler if you ever want to take a look around, I'm sure one of the weekday regulars wouldn't mind giving you a tour.

Close to Houston, Sam Houston National Forest (SHNF like you've found) or some of the local mx tracks (www.houstonmotocross.com has the skinny on a lot of those)..and one or two other private riding areas, that's about all I can think of.

Rio Bravo has some trails (very minimal), and a nice old school mx track (non-supercross). Not sure the open times though.

3 Palms has some OK trails or more "trail like" tracks. I have only been there once but the GP track was fun.

Thanks for all the info guys. I was kind of looking for something close to home to help bring back the bike handling skills. I just got back into riding after a 12 year break. Been having a lot of fun. Thinking about getting into the hare scramble seen. Does anyone have any info on Rio Bravo. The website is kind of hard to extract info from. Do they have practice during the week at all? Thanks

Short of finding a Rio member in the TRH forums (there's quite a few), your two best possible avenues are:

Rio Bravo MX forum
http://www.texasoffroad.net/forum/ubbthreads.php/forums/52/1/Rio_Bravo_MX

Or sending an email to Danny (danny@riobravomx.org) - that's the way I go.

Rio is usually open every weekend, with a prep done Sat morning. They also will prep the night track on Thursday night & turn the lights on.
Be sure and tell them you are a TRH member, and the membership fee will be $30 vs $50 /yr.So be sure and re-up your TRH dues for '11 !
Danny usually shows up to the monthly TRH meetings as well (next Monday).
He is the owner & a TRH member.
