Attached is information on the 13th Annual TRH/AMA/KTM Terlingua National Dual Sport Ride. Please e-mail or call the addresses and/or phone numbers on the event flyer for information or questions. We're looking forward to seeing everyone October 23rd & 24th in Study Butte, Texas.
This year's Event Chairman is Sam Stacy and he is working on getting some new trails added for you to ride. This one will be fun!
Get your entries in as soon as possible. We have extended the pre-entry deadline to September 30th so we can ensure that those of you that want one, can still enter in time for us to reserve a Terlingua National Dual Sport Ride T-Shirt for you. After 9/30 we can't guarantee T-Shirt availability and sizes.
Come on down to Terlingua and "Ride with the "World Famous" Trail Riders of Houston!

Hugely looking forward to it. Just trying to get my bike and body ready.
I do have a question that maybe you can't really answer, but what the heck: I've got an XR650R and probably won't have my updated registration and all back from the state in time (long story). But I do have a plate, insurance and the right gear. I'll have my application, but probably not results back from Austin. How strict are they about checking all this out?

OK, couple quest concerning the area.
Have they gotten any cell towers in the last few years? which service??
does any one use Bike to Bike (dirt bikes) communications equipment?? if so, what works best?
I use to have a system MANY years ago, but I assume with the advance in Electronics, there are better ones now.

I have sprint. In the last few years I have been able to get a signal a lot of the time. They must have changed something. I never used to be able to get anything..

Thanks to Trail Riders of Houston for organizing a great event. The courses were well marked, by flagging, GPS routes and roll charts. The BBQ on Sat and chicken fried steak lunches were super. Enough SWAG for almost everyone.
Anyone who hasn't ridden Big Bend owes it to themselves to make a trip down. Scenry from high desert mountains, stark scrbby flats, sandy washes, and rainbow colored hills. Combine the above with spectacular sunrises and sunsets made for a memorable trip.

I hope I can go. Checking to see if my XR400 is OK for this dual sport ride. It's street legal, but the gearing is set-up for street, so any steep climbs or technical areas will be very ugly. Can y'all give an idea of what kind of terrain we should expect? Also gas tank size needed. I can go at least 70 miles on 2.5gal stock tank. Thx!!
