Y'all,I went down there yesterday ( a 150 mile round trip for me from Magnolia) just to check it out before I cancelled the open day. The road in got really slick 1000 yards from the camp gate & there was standing water in camp.I nearly got my truck(which by the way was empty & hauling no trailer or bikes) stuck getting out. I had invited about 15 families & I didn't want people getting stuck getting in & out of the property.
SC has had more than an inch of rain over the last few weeks, the whole region has had a dumping of water & rivers are up so the land isn't draining very quickly.I didn't reckon it would be a very fun time to show you around.

Juliet,

You made the right call, I went to Skull Creek today and is was very sloppy due to several FEET of water we have had over the last few months. I did however meet up with a few guests that didn't get the word that it had been cancelled and I did my best to give them a tour and they realy enjoyed the place.

On a side note; those of you who want to be critical about the decision to cancel should consider the expence and time for Juliet to look out for YOUR best interests. I personally don't want to see any negativity involved in this club so if you don't have something positive to say or are unwilling to contribute to the success of this club, then go somewhere else. If you think I'm being to harsh, just look at what has recently happened to Cherokee and STORM. You guys better start protecting what is important to us all, or we're going to loose it!!!

Juliet - keep up the great job, I'll be there to help.

I am a new member and have heard great things of the place. Thank you Juliet for thinking about everyone. First impressions should be done when you can actually see the place. Hoping that it will dry up soon. If all goes well we will be out there Feb. 15 for the day. Hope to hav the "dirt" bikes out and it not be too muddy. Looking forward to the rookie run. The other thing that I like about Skull Creek over Cherokee is that it is family oriented. Everyone I have met is great. For those of you who like a family fun environment, you will like it.

I made my first trip to Skull Creek today and had a blast even though it was a bit muddy.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mark, Toby, Jeff and John Goodman. They made me feel right at home and John graciously spent some of his time showing me the property. I started out on the ride with Mark
but was too worn out to finish it.
All in all a great day with some great people.
Thanks.

Hidden Falls was great yesterday and the trails that weren't in the shade dried up nicely. Unfortunately, it is not a place that the whole family can enjoy. I have heard (before this thread) that SC is Family oriented and that is what peaked our interest.
Please understand, I was in no way trying to be critical of Juliet, but was simply surprised by the small amount of rain received last week. I was not thinking about recent rains in total that affected the decision.

As far as Juliet being willing to drive 150 miles round trip just to ensure a good riding experience for new members.... I don't think I have ever seen that before.

We are still looking forward to checking out SC!

NewOldRider,

Appology accepted, we're pretty protective of our club and those of us who know how much Juliet's and Marcus put into this place can't stand the negative feedback. We're trying to build a positive family environment and can use all the help we can find. I can certainly understand your hesitance to joing up with a propety that you haven't seen and I'm sure that we will have another open day for prospective members. If you happen to make it out, look me up - my family would enjoy meeting you.

Glad to see that 'everyone' in the family is now on two wheels. Did you guys make it back out there Sunday?

Yes, I took several guests out on Sunday and may have gotten 4 or 5 new family memberships lined up. I decided to go down one size to the CRF150 and it fits Tina a whole lot better. Actually called the guy selling the bike on Sunday morning and he was interested in seeing Skull Creek so he brought the bike out and I give him a small tour on the Razor - I think his family is going to join up also. It was kind a win-win situation for both of us. Monkey's on your back now, Tina's looking forward to rinding with Juliet and Terry so get busy smile Can't wait until next time - later!

Skull Creek is a badass place. We went this weekend for the second time and had an absolute blast. I could care less if it is muddy. Been to CCP in way muddier conditions. But, as long as I get some seat time in, and some good campin', I'm happy. There was plenty of dry trail out there even if you had to go through mud to get to it. The levy system is friggin' gnarly and the sand pits are always good for speed, woops, and hill climbs. The road wasn't muddy, as all my buds drive 2 wheel drive trucks and they had no problems whatsoever getting in. SOme of the trail was cut off and some was too deep to negotiate, but there's so much out there, it doesn't matter.

I highly recommend it. If anybody wishes to come out and check it out, just let me know and I will happily come show you around. The only weekends I'm usually tied up is torcs race weekends. Otherwise, I'm usually riding out there or the forest.
