There is a reamer at Mike's that I aquired back when I was doing mine. I'll check when I'm out there today.

bought the said steering kit above and a few other things for my build.

Stock radius arms 35 bucks for the arms
45 bucks for coil perches and possible caps for above radius arsm

Plans are to cut them down weld up DOM back to heims for the extra long radius arms and custom crossmember.

Anyone have a place where i can buy a welder locally for a good price, I would like to go with the Hobart 187 amp unit and someone to watch my welds..

Tired of buying off the shelf, time to start welding my own rigs.

To find a good deal on a welder, I'd keep up with craigslist and the thrifty nickle. Other than that, any of the welding supply places, and tractor supply will sell you one. Don't know about the good price though.

Make sure you have 220 power available. The Hobarts are good for the price. Order of quality to me would be Miller, Lincoln, Hobart. I put Miller a little higher because you can only buy them at a dealer/welding supply place, I think the Lincoln's sold at Home Depot etc are a little lower quality (but still good units, just hope quality doesn't falter). Hobarts are a good welder. I can give you some pointers and direction. I would also suggest taking the welding classes at Cisco, the AF pays for them smile

x2 on gettign a MIG.
x2 on 220v
take the classes and get comfortable with it. Mig is the only way to go for what we do. Can it be done with a stick welder? Yup. Fast? Nope. Forgiving? Nope.

Stick welder aint that bad. Yall make em sound like the devil or something. There are a lot of good things a mig has over a stickrod most being creature comfort things (no slag, no left over rod ends to clean up) but u can accomplish the same task with it as u can a mig welder. For me and my garage? Ill probably end up with a crackerbox cause I'm not gonna drop that kinda cash on a miller and not use it enough to get that much more benefit over the stick machine.

I say get what ur comfortable with, what u can afford without going cheap meaning go with dependable brand and gas option and bigg enough power wise, go with what's going to suite ur needs.

I welded my whole life with stick and did just fine... BUT there is now a small 220V MIG (Lincoln 175) in my garage now, and I won't use my arc welder unless the stuff I am welding is like 1/2" thick or a 100 lb hunk of cast iron. Then I'll probably end up begging Mike to weld it up with his big MIG.

X2 on the classes.

A nice, auto-darkening helmet will greatly enhance your arc welding experience. I like to use a very bright halogen worklight to illuminate the work area.

Brand names are still the way to go with crackerboxes... I love Harbor Freight but not their welders.

I see a lincoln tombstone, almost new on D/FW Craigslist for $215
