Well, I figured this was a good time to start this thread on Don's behalf since he is getting ready to get on a plane in Baltimore to head this way. I will create a pic gallery to go along with this thread so updates can be given. Plan for Sat is to get his buggy over on the slab and on stands so he can work while he is off during the next few weeks. I think he has wheels and rear axle to start with, then a trip to San Antonio will be taking place sometime to get additional parts. A full list that can be updated and corrected will come Yet another one begins

got the fuel cell installed, all the small previous cuts ground down and cleaned up and removed the tire carrier on the rear. didn't recon i'd EVER want to heft a 42" Rocker up there lol.
Got the gauges installed in the dash.

With a HUGE thanks to Sam, we made the trip to SA and Austin and picked up the D60 front axle, seats, harnesses, and 42" Rockers yesterday. Took today off to adjust to the cold. Tomorrow we'Ll be working on getting the brackets cut to mount link bars and coilovers on both ends. Finishing up my wheels to mount the rockers on and trying to get as close as I can to have it sitting on its own.
Still need a. Few parts from the JY for the front D60 to be able to mount wheels but I should be able to make a run or two out there next week for those items.

Those tires are sexy. Gave me a 'special' feeling. Will be out to start helping at about noon, with fajitas. If anyone wants to pick up some toppings, that would be cool. (Guacamolie, sour cream, etc)

Looking good. On the rear truss I would add a filler to each side. Would act as a gusset and look bling.

sounds good, no hurry YET haha. i'm still looking at later on this year before being ready to actually drive and flex it out and take it out on its first run so there is still plenty of time.
gotta start on the engine next. have a 302 thats going to need to be tore down and rebuilt and i still gotta locate a computer for MAF type EFI. but i'm looking into SD as well cause i dont think it'll be as critical to need the MAF since the engine will stay primarily stock. anything over an E cam with SD and the computer freaks out so i just gotta decide if i want to stay stock with the engine or not.

Before you start welding and painting on the axles make sure you clean them up damn good... I must have sprayed and brillo pad a gallon of wd-40 on all the parts when it was sitting outside.
And yea, they were DAMN heavy. Thats the first time ive lifted them fully built.

yeah i'm definitly kicking around some ideas for a cooler. may have to add some additional bars in the rear to set something up all cool like for a cooler and hold down. one thing about this rig, the possibilites are endless haha.
OH! got the rear axle in place tonight, tackling the front axle tomorrow/monday. probably take me all afternoon tomorrow just to get it out of the truck haha.
once its sitting on all four corners i'll roll it out into the driveway for a little washdown and picture time. may have to run out to mikes and grab the fenders to throw em on there for a photoshoot - minus powertrain of course but it'll give an idea of ride height and stance.

LOL yeah, we're like burn brothers now.
called Wild Horses and they told me that the combo i'm wanting to do hasn't been done in a very long time and isn't actually listed. they have to put the package together for me. looking at about $1k in shafts, adapters to mate the c4-203-d20.
oh and mike, the cold duck kit is no longer available from anyone anywhere. according to WildHorses that took over the kit after the original maker of the kit passed away.

havn't looked at the Klune yet, me and mike were looking at the "Black Box" as well. i think its basically the same setup. i may just run the d20 and put money back for an atlas/stak later on.
who knows at this point haha.
trying to decide on the pane or EFI too. James at brutal said to run pane on the gent we'd probably have to redesign the rear cage to be able to mount two tanks and i dont watn to get into all that.

I am using the RJM harness. I did like being able to run Hot Springs all day and not worry about fuel. For me the black box or klune may be the better option, I want to keep my D20 so my PTO winch can stay. I know I will spend a bit on output shafts etc, but I am thinking it may be worth it to keep the reliable PTO winch

Abilene Radiator makes custom flex brake lines, they are expensive, but you can get them pretty much any way you want. John's turned out great, he can fill you in on price.

Yes.
Where you 'terminate' the steel line, just leave it a little long until you see what size fitting you'll need to go to the flex. You gonna run individual lines to each front wheel, or a single drop?

Yes, we can get a tape measure and a piece of paper to write down some length's to buy hard line, then you run a flex line from frame rail to each front wheel, and a center singel flx to the rear in the center with hard line on each end. If the rear calipers are floating, you need a short flex line there too (like mine).. those are easy to get in stock form.

I let Mike bend up my lines for the rear axle since I'm a chiken$h!t when it comes to ruining stuff. But the pieces aren't that long, so you can mark-bend-mark-bend as you go. Doing it nice and neat is an easy way to make it look good, and doing it half-a$$ will make it look chitty. So taking some time to do it right will pay off. Starting with a bare chassis will be sweet. Some time with a wire wheel and a rattle can will help, too.

Check out Speedway Motors for brake lines. I got most of my stuff from them for pretty reasonable. They have most everything for hardline and flex. You can get the braided SS flexline in whatever length/size (-3 or -4) and pick the ends you want (banjo, NPT). Pretty easy and fast shipping. I also picked up the weld on tabs and clamps. I can take some pictures of my stuff if you want. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/ProductSum...es&deptId=0
