We can have a party at my house Saturday if we can ride Ms. Powell's Sunday! I'm even half serious...biggest problem would be getting up just a few hours after ya'll leave to ride dirt bikes.

Plus, it looks like weather gods won't smile on us for 1/31 and they are right now.

doug,it takes a couple of days with a handfull of experienced people to layout a good family ride trail.also there is a torcs race this weekend so attendance would be low.we need to pay land owners and generate income for the club .that allows us to buy insurance.
you should talk to larry about voluntering this weekend.he could use the help, its fun to lay out sections plus you get a better idea of what it takes.

Doug:

I think you can pull this off.

First, call in at work and tell them you will not have time to go to work today, that you have dirt bike stuff to do. Your employer will understand. mad

Next, call me and I will give you the name of our insurance carrier. You can obtain insurance for this Sunday since this will be a Doug Norton family day, not an AMSA event.

Call the Powell's and ask if you can run a ride day this Sunday.

Order a Porto Pot, quick, time is running out! crazy

Go buy ribbon and arrows and any other supplies you will need.

Make a post that you need help to go set up a trail today and tomorrow. Sit by the phone and wait for all the calls. On second thought, don't sit and wait by the phone, you need to get going first thing this morning if you are going to plan and set up an entire family ride day just two days before the event.

Make a post that Doug is having a family ride day event this Sunday while TORCS is having their season opener race. confused

Oh, a cold front is coming tonight and it is supposed to rain! cry ..... cry cry ..... cry cry cry

If you are like me, prepare your bike and your kids bike and all the gear that goes with it, plus, put together all the things such as waivers for insurance, emergency contact info, etc. that is required to comply with the insurance issues for a family day. sleep

Pack all your stuff late Saturday night after working to set up the trail all day long. sleep sleep

Get up around 5 AM Sunday morning so you can be at the ranch by 8 AM. sleep

Work the gate all day, hope that you can collect enough money so you can break even with insurance fee's, pay the land owner, pay the porto pot, pay for all your supplies, etc. You should estimate about $1100 in just out of pocket expenses for the above. cry

And now the fun part! Clean up the trails, take down all the ribbon and arrows, talk to the land owner, pay them, etc. sleep

Drive home. Unload everything. sleep

Remind yourself that you do this because you like too and your many hours of work and out of pocket expense is worth it. smile

All sounds pretty simple!

Remind yourself, if Larry can do it, so can I!

Doug, you pull this ride day off for this Sunday, at this late date notice, and I will throw a party for current AMSA members at my house and I will buy all the food and drink.

Let me know! I will be waiting by the phone for your call! grin

Thanks,
-Larry

Sorry for being selfish, I obviously didn't know about the TORCS race this weekend...was just enjoying this beautiful weather the last couple days and haven't been on my bike in way too long due to work. In fact, I just got back the other night from the monsoons of CA, so was doubly appreciating how nice it is here.

I absolutely realize it takes a ton of work from our club's volunteers to make these happen. I even added a note of appreciation to you personally when I mailed my dues in last week (which I had to do since I haven't been able to make last couple family days). I'll add a big thank you here to Greg and the other "regulars" in our club who work so hard for us as well.

Anything I can do to help you prepare this Sunday? Or will the prep work have to happen sometime next week due to the TORCS race? Cell phone is 512-413-1222.

Doug:

No problems. We have to juggle a bunch of things to make this stuff happen. The main point is deciding to do a family day two days before is not in everyone's best interest.

Thanks for re-joining AMSA and supporting the club.

Val:

What sarcasm?

Allot goes into these events and it takes time to do it all.

I been up since 4 AM this morning.

I type abut 80 words a minute, so it was maybe 5 minutes.

Oh, before I forget, I owe you $5. You over paid, or I over charged you, the last Sunday ride.

And thanks for all you & Tireman does to support this club.

Thanks,
-Larry
