I'll be there Sunday.
Can't wait, with an all-star cast that layed out the course, it must be good.

We are on for an AMSA Family Day ride WEEKEND on Saturday January 9th and Sunday January 10th at Rusty's Walnut Creek Ranch.

Let’s start riding around 10ish Saturday. You can show up Friday or earlier Saturday morning. Just make certain to sign in BEFORE you ride so that we can protect our insurance policy.

This is a dirt bike only event, no four (4) wheelers.

Parking

We will be entering the property from Hwy 20, on the Bastrop side of the bridge over Walnut Creek. We will have the entrance marked with arrows and pink ribbon. Rusty will be using his tractor to make sure the entrance is in great condition.

Camping

Camping will be allowed both Friday after dark (NO RIDING) and Saturday night. Cost will be $20 for the weekend (Friday and Saturday).

Campers are not allowed to ride on Friday.

Bon Fire

We have a Bon Fire that will begin sometime later in the day Saturday.
Please DO NOT light the Bon Fire! AMSA will light the Bon Fire.

You are welcome to have a small pit fire but watch it close and do not let the kids get their bikes too close (gasoline and fires do not mix well).

Cost

AMSA members may ride for $10 each per day or for $15 each for a weekend pass.
Guests may ride for $20 each per day or for $30 each for a weekend pass.
Pee Wee riders may ride the smaller kids loop for $5 each (our discretion).
Camping is $20 for Friday and/or Saturday night.

Trail Loop

We have a small kids loop under the Pecan Bottom.

We have a 3 mile loop that is easy in the grass track area that is really fun. This trail ends with an option to go back to the parking area in the pecan bottom or continue on to the woods loop.

The grass track area ties into an optional woods loop that ends up back in the pecan bottom.

LeWallen, Charlie and I finished marking everything yesterday (Wednesday Jan 6th).

The trail last Sunday was a bit moist. The trail Wednesday (yesterday) was perfect and could use some moisture. I spoke to Rusty this morning and he said that they received no moisture with the passing of this front. Conditions should be perfect!

We may need to remark a few things Saturday morning since the cows like to tear things down.

A BIG thanks to Steve Cardwell who spent a couple of days marking a very fun loop for us all. Also big thanks to Greg, Kyle, LeWallen, Moyer and Paley for helping to mark trail and clear those dang mesquite things out of the path.

Map and Directions

Here is a map to Rusty's Walnut Creek Ranch:
http://www.amsaclub.org/maps/walnut_creek-RUSTYs.gif

The usual entrance was on Pleasant Chapel Rd, which makes a loop from 535 to Hwy 20. That gate will be marked with directions to the Hwy 20 gate.

This time, we will enter from Hwy 20, so you won't need to worry about Pleasant Chapel Rd. You will see markings on Hwy 20 on the day of the family day ride.

Questions?

Let me know if there are any questions or if I left anything out.

Thanks,
-Larry

Wayne, I am almost certain you can renew your membership when you get there. Most of us are in the same boat. Thanks for the reminder!

Wayne,
I'll jump in here for Larry. Yes, you can definitely sign up for 2010, we strongly encourage it. Club is suffering through our worst membership numbers in many years, and we must have members to have all the boring stuff covered, like insurance. No memberships fees, no insurance, no ride days, bottom line.

Trail is really sweet, and like Larry said conditions are going to be perfect. Come one come all. Support your club, so we can all keep the fun rolling.

If anybody has a chain saw bring it. There are lots of tree limbs on the ground that we can use for fire wood.

I can see Noonan's eye's lighting up now!!!!!! sleep

Also, If we have anyone with a large BBQ we could do a bring your on road kill and burn it. Like a big BBQ?

Thanks,
-Larry

Did I mention that we will have some prize drawings for current AMSA members?

Thanks to Bill Deck, Central Texas PowerSports, and AMSA we will have a drawing each day for current AMSA members.

Ya snooze, ya loose.

Thanks,
-Larry

Early Saturday trail-side report - The dirt is perfect and it already hit 39 degrees out here, sunny, with no wind!

I left at 4:00, and it was a balmy 44 degrees. Riding was epic, trail is in wonderful condition. Perfect traction everywhere. There is plenty of fire wood all over the place, my suggestion is show up and build yourself a fire, go ride, then warm up by the fire. That's what I did today, awesome!

Everyone needs to suck it up and come on out. It's really nice out there.
