We are on for an AMSA Family Day ride WEEKEND on Saturday January 9th and Sunday January 10th at Rusty's Walnut Creek Ranch.
Let’s start riding around 10ish Saturday. You can show up Friday or earlier Saturday morning. Just make certain to sign in BEFORE you ride so that we can protect our insurance policy.
This is a dirt bike only event, no four (4) wheelers.
ParkingWe will be entering the property from Hwy 20, on the Bastrop side of the bridge over Walnut Creek. We will have the entrance marked with arrows and pink ribbon. Rusty will be using his tractor to make sure the entrance is in great condition.
CampingCamping will be allowed both Friday after dark (NO RIDING) and Saturday night. Cost will be $20 for the weekend (Friday and Saturday).
Campers are not allowed to ride on Friday.
Bon FireWe have a Bon Fire that will begin sometime later in the day Saturday.
Please DO NOT light the Bon Fire! AMSA will light the Bon Fire.
You are welcome to have a small pit fire but watch it close and do not let the kids get their bikes too close (gasoline and fires do not mix well).
CostAMSA members may ride for $10 each per day or for $15 each for a weekend pass.
Guests may ride for $20 each per day or for $30 each for a weekend pass.
Pee Wee riders may ride the smaller kids loop for $5 each (our discretion).
Camping is $20 for Friday and/or Saturday night.
Trail LoopWe have a small kids loop under the Pecan Bottom.
We have a 3 mile loop that is easy in the grass track area that is really fun. This trail ends with an option to go back to the parking area in the pecan bottom or continue on to the woods loop.
The grass track area ties into an optional woods loop that ends up back in the pecan bottom.
LeWallen, Charlie and I finished marking everything yesterday (Wednesday Jan 6th).
The trail last Sunday was a bit moist. The trail Wednesday (yesterday) was perfect and could use some moisture. I spoke to Rusty this morning and he said that they received no moisture with the passing of this front. Conditions should be perfect!
We may need to remark a few things Saturday morning since the cows like to tear things down.
A BIG thanks to Steve Cardwell who spent a couple of days marking a very fun loop for us all. Also big thanks to Greg, Kyle, LeWallen, Moyer and Paley for helping to mark trail and clear those dang mesquite things out of the path.
Map and DirectionsHere is a map to Rusty's Walnut Creek Ranch:
http://www.amsaclub.org/maps/walnut_creek-RUSTYs.gifThe usual entrance was on Pleasant Chapel Rd, which makes a loop from 535 to Hwy 20. That gate will be marked with directions to the Hwy 20 gate.
This time, we will enter from Hwy 20, so you won't need to worry about Pleasant Chapel Rd. You will see markings on Hwy 20 on the day of the family day ride.
Questions?Let me know if there are any questions or if I left anything out.
Thanks,
-Larry
