#445210 - 12/14/09 05:36 PM Rule Book in question

6. The TORN series will consist of 10 events with one drop allowed for all classes (including Pro). All classes must
race at least 7 events to be eligible for year end awards. Riders who race ALL 10 races will receive an extra 6
points added to their year end points.

So with this copied directly from the rule book about the extra 6 points in question, how does a rider who was not on a line and gets a DNF qualify for the 6 bonus points. If I understand this right you should be able to look at standings and see a finish every raceto recieve the extra points. I looked at the standings from the weekend and notice a couple of Riders who have a 0 for a race and yet got 6 points. Just like th last line reads "Riders who race ALL 10 races will receive an extra 6 points added to their year end points." Do you not have to be on a starting line and ride a lap to get counted as a racer????
2. In order to receive finishing points, a rider must finish the minimum amount of time unassisted, and have his/her
finish recorded by a TORN official. Minimum amount of time consists of 50% of your timed event.
3. Racers must start the race and make one complete lap recorded by an official to receive 5 points.

To me these rules make it clear that a rider needs to have actualy raced the event to be awarded the extra 6 points

TORN does a great job at following the rule book and making a great series to race in I just don't understand how some riders got the extra 6 points with voids in their standings

I was also looking for how ties are broken and did not find that in the rule book.

i think ties are broken on based results (most wins then most seconds and so on), but i could be wrong on that too.

If you completed one lap but did not finish you got a DNF and recieved 5 points. Some of the people that got a DNF signed up to race, but did not, did not get any points. That would be considered a DNS (did not start) but TORN doesn't give a DNS. In the rule book it says Riders who race all 10 races will receive an extra 6 points added to their year end points. Last time I checked if you sign up but don't go to the line, that means you didn't race.

Rules should be the ones "running the show";that is the difference between a democracy and a dictatorship.

This is not an opinion about any specific rule.

Question from Josh is reasonable, based on TORN's rule copied on his post.

Ball is in TORN's court.

I know what they are asking about but you also have to look at the situation if a rider no shows thats one thing but if a rider shows and pays and has a spectator take them out before the race that is totally different. I think it was a good battle for the championship this year.

In the rules it states: Riders who race ALL 10 races will receive an extra 6 points. Know were does it state if Rider shows up and pay's his entry fee get hurt on Saturday's Sportsman Race. Can't race Sunday Pro Race. Will get 6 bonus point for racing all 10 Pro races, yes he raced all 10 Sportsman races(which doesn't show DNF/5 on race 207)and he raced ALL 10 Events. Bottom line he DID NOT Race all 10 Pro Races period! Bryan even Raced Freestone with a broken arm and Gordon with the Flu to make sure he raced all 10 Pro Races. I understand if Ryan wouldn't have gotten hurt on Saturday he would have raced on Sunday. If the Rule Read Riders who race ALL 10 Events will receive an extra 6 points then Ryan wins but it doesn't. Torn stick to YOUR RULE book and change the rule at the first race not the last race do the right thing Brian Storrie WON Pro Championship based off of 2009 TORN Rule Book.

I don't know the answer but I would be willing to bet that talking to the TORN crew in person or by phone will get you better results. Doing it on the forum is not the way to go about it.
