Howdy. My name is Mark Plank and I am researching the Army off-road motorcycle team that was headquartered out of Fort Hood in the 1970s. Am interested in interviewing the Soldiers, civilians, any involved. All insights, memories, etc appreciated. I can be reached at mplank@ci.temple.tx.us.

Thanks all.

Hello,
was stumbling through and saw where I might be capable of helping out.
I joined Bravo Company 2nd Battalion 7th Cav. approx. Nov. 1973. Yes I'm old!
My initial intentions were to join the Recon off-road group you mentioned but, when
I arrived they had only a few Suzuki's left and they were in horrible shape. As I recall they
were in Alpha Co. ??? It's been a long time. My interest for joining them totally dropped off after
I saw what they had. If not mistaken the Bikes were totally removed a short time later. We were Airmobile and at eighteen jumping in the back sit of the Huey with doors remaining open at all times
was pretty thrilling in itself, especially at tree top level during a night time exercise, whoa! a
flash back ( big smile here ).

Always willing to help out and talk about the days of yester-
year,

George

George you are talking about the Cav Scouts, nothing to do with Team Army, the scouts stayed on the base, went went TDY all over racing and giving motorcycle safety classes to High School drivers education classes. We never wore a uniform we had green and gold Army Shirts.
