We were fortunate enough to be one of the first one's out. I kind of had a heads up when I was talking to a local at the gas station after we'd just gotten into town and he said, "oh, here for the big MX race, huh......well, I help 'em out down there every year pull people out of the mud......it's gonna rain tonight and it doesn't look good for the rest of the week." So, I definitely took his words into consideration when I parked the RV that afternoon which was as close to the entry/exit as possible. Sure enough, it rained a little on Wednesday evening and Thursday around mid-morning it started pouring rain and never stopped until sometime Friday after we were long gone! It was painful as well as a nasty sight seeing some of those high dollar motorhomes and big rigs literally being dragged through water and muck by a D9 Cat. On a humorous note, as we were leaving you had one guy in a state of panic scambling to get a tow from one of the dozers and right next to him was a guy trying to light his bar-b-que pit underneath his awning with charcoal lighter in hand and his friend, poised and ready, holding the jug of race gas. I guess there wasn't much of a fire after the explosion with it raining so hard and all. See you at the track!
PS There were two divisions of 85-150 12-13 year olds and Shane got 11th in the 1st moto out of 22 in his class. I am really proud of him. They cancelled the race right after the next moto.
