During the 2009 Annual Awards Banquet, the TSCEC founder Roy Pool entrusted our past president George McMahan with two large scrapbooks that Roy and his wife Laynett had assembled through the years. The scrapbooks are a wealth of information - handwritten and typed letters, newspaper articles, and photos.

George took it on himself to have the items in the scrapbooks scanned. We owe George a big Thanks for making this happen. I'm sure hours of work were involved.

Once scanned, George sent me a compact disc with the individual page images. I've worked for the past month to find a way to get them on-line. I believe I finally have an acceptable solution.

Note that the images are in PDF format. I've tested the script with FireFox 3 and IE 7. Version 9 of the Adobe Reader is required. The reader was the source of problems I had in getting the script to work.

When viewing the images, note the page counter in the Adobe Reader window. Many of the files presented contain multiple pages. The Previous and Next buttons at the top of the page change the document. The page navigation within each document is in the toolbar of the control.

The Adobe reader provides the ability to zoom and rotate images. I believe I've corrected the orientation on most images.

Once you select a new image, either from the drop-down box or by clicking the Next or Previous buttons, please be patient. Some of these file are fairly large and require 15-20 seconds to download with a reasonably fast link.

Be sure to thank George next time you see him.

Wow Bud, that is great stuff! I'm sure it took a ton of work and personal time to put this together and it is appreciated! Loved reading about the first ladies class in TSCEC. Also, I think we need to have another float trip down the Guadalupe river!!

Bud, thanks for getting that posted; now, this information is available to everyone! Karla Franklin compiled both of these scrapbooks for Roy and Lynnette and to preserve our TSCEC History. When Roy gave those to me at the banquet, I wanted to find a way to share them with everyone, and discussed it at length with Bill Pearson, Archie Talaifero, and Ralph White. We came up with the idea of having them scanned, but were not sure WHO to get to do it. Then I rememberd that one of our formers participants ran a printing/blueprint company in Lubbock! So I took them to "The Reproduction Company", a company owned by Don Goodpasture, and managed by Chris Milford, both former PEA Members, and TSCEC members. Don is Carl Clapsaddle's step-father, and many of you will remember Carl from being Enduro Chairman at PEA at Turkey several years ago. So they were the perfect people to do it, and they were quite reasonable on their fees. But once again, Bud did the "Heavy-Lifting" by getting it on the website, and INDEXING it, so we can easily look stuff up. Now, we can see if "Gage's" trivia questions are really right!

I started looking at the book, but my eyes crossed about page 100. I'll have to go back & start there.

Good job for all involved.

That is great interesting reading of our history. I am going to spend hours reading it all.

Very interesting, AMA, Gas Marshall, Banquet, Check Point Hearings, Backup Sheets, Clubs near McAllen, 10 dollar entries, Notarized Contracts between clubs to share revenue from races.

I can understand the need and reasoning behind many of the traditions and rules.

Thanks for the preservation of TSCEC history.

Thanks to all involved in putting this together. I am very proud to be a member of such a great organization. Thanks to everyone who has carried the TSCEC torch since Roy stepped down. It is no small task for sure. Great job guys!
